Yeah, I'm betting this doesn't work. GB Jr. is so intent on bagging Saddam that a few dead Brits won't faze him in the least. That's my prediction.

*sigh*

In Bucharest, more than 100 Romanian diehard communists said Tuesday they would travel by bus to Iraq to act as human shields in case of a U.S. attack.

Members of the tiny Romanian Workers Party, which took the mantle of ousted dictator Nicolae Ceausescu's defunct Communist party in 1995, said they would set off next month to support "the cause of the people."
So, that's why Bush is delaying the war! He's just giving enough time to assemble all this morons in the X - spot.

The man deserves more credits than I thought.

Hmm…I dare say that should we go to war and these people get killed, all it will really do is increase the median IQ of humanity. I mean come on, regardless of whether you're for or against action in Iraq, isn't this indescribably stupid?

That right there is a perfect example of the current anti war movement. you have radical lefty's , both greens and reds, the anti-america crowd, and not to mention the far right anti-semites in europe.

Human Shields...I laugh at people who think that the possibility of a few civilian or friendly casualties are going to make a rat's dropping worth of a difference!

Whatever their issue is, fine. They could have 'Guillotining for God' and I wouldn't care, as long as they did it a) in an extremely remote shithole of the planet and b) they did it solely to themselves.

I'm sure Bush will really want to hold back at a chance to kill people dead set against him. Since there doing this of there own free will and for the specific purpose of being an illegal human shield, there just going to be considered combatants and sent to hell anyway.

I heard an interview with the founder of the program on BBC World Service a few days ago.

Now, though I think he is an idiot, if its what he wants to do, let him do it.

On a related note:

I don't support a war on Iraq without UN endorsement, just like the majority in every major "alliance" nation. However, I will support to the hilt our servicemen who are sent there. My mother was a major student activist during the Vietnam war (she was, and possibly still is banned from entering the USA), hiding draft dodgers and no doubt organising and attending rallies. Now, I don't have a problem with that, what I have a MAJOR problem with is the way that people were treated when they returned. Not everyone wanted to go, hell, most didn't. So why the hell did people feel it neccessary to treat these men (and women) who went with such contempt? I'll repeat my point, I don't support a war, but I will support our people, because to do otherwise would be a great crime.

"Please accept these honorary gifts of stormtrooper helmets and red shirts, the official uniform of the human shield. These afadavits will indicate that you are officially two days from retirement. Your new code names indicated on your forms, such as 'Shield #2" and 'Random Casualty #1' should be used at all times. Please say 'watermelon, watermelon, cantelope, watermelon' whenever not doing anything important. And lastly, please practice the official human shield anthem, which goes like this. *Ahem* Kill me kill me kill me kill me...."
