God damit! Boeing is trying to rip us off, luckily ours cruses at 25,000 ft and 500 Knots, and has a slightly larger payload... Suck it Boeing!

Tell you what? I am being serious you know...

What the hell are you talking about, Crown? Nothing can carry a larger payload than the Pelican yet cruise at 25,000 feet and 500 mph.

Nothing
yet but we are working on it. Just to give you an idea if it's payload, the largest plane today is the Antov (An-255?) something or rather (the one that carries the Buran on it's back), it's maximum TO weight (fully loaded with fuel + payload + Gross empty weight) is about 1 million pounds, and this is our
payload requirement.
Granted it is a student design project, but hey when I said 'ours' I didn't mean country/company...

No one has ever solved the control problems with WIG, the Russians tired and failed for years, they had WIG back in the late 80's.
There are also massive problem with landing and takeoff conditions, WIG needs near perfect wind and waves, something you don't often find. Your still limited to aircraft like payloads, times of flight are longer, a WIG flying from the US to Kuwait would need to fly down the Red Sea and around into the Gulf, a C-17 can travel across Saudi in addition to being faster. Assuming it can make it down the relatively flat Sinai, possibul for lighter models that can fly up to 2500 feet for short times, impossible for a big one at 50.
Better to spend the billions needed for development on more C-17's and more fast sealift ships.

You intended to land it on what exactly? Assuming you could find a long enough runway, unlikely, landing would likely explode any tires and crush the concrete. As it is AN-225 is marginal for most runways as it is.
If you're going WIG, land and takeoff is probably going to stall the engines from the fuckload of water being thrown up. Of course you'll soon lose control and the thing will cartwheel into the sea anyway.

Trust me it will land (I am doing the landing gear for this thing), but the biggest problem is it's wing-span at the moment, looks like it will have to fold them..

Folding wings on a 1.2 million pound capacity transport? Great idea, minus the whole folding aspect. I'd love to know how big a runway you need when wet.

Why again do we need to be able to deploy so quickly "within 96 hours"? Are we anticipating an imminent Chinese invasion of Japan or something?!?
Personally, it seems like a gigantic waste of money to me.

Replace "Japan" with "Taiwan"
or replace Japan with "American Forces in South Korea" and replace China with "North Korea"
Then theres that little place called the Middle East.

Wars outcomes, both large and small have been decided in less time then that. The 24th mechanised is a great force once it arrives, but the SL-7's need to haul it need 96 hours just to get moving to the ports of embarcation and moving and loading the equipment takes longer. It would take several weaks to get it into position.
I guess you consider the 82's 24 hour alert brigade a wast as well?
