Who are the strongest, most powerful flame warriors from across the internet (not just this site)? What do they debate, and which side do they take?

I'm not sure what you mean by "toughest", but Jorge from CW.org has the most impervious wall of ignorance I've ever seen. He has managed to twist evidence to make it seem like its disproving evolution, and repeatedly ignores questions even after they're asked directly repeatedly. Then there's his holier-than-thou attitude, and habit of using big words so people get confused what he's saying.

Forgive me. By "toughest" I meant instead, "strongest" or "most powerful." While DarkStar and Jorge are immensely difficult flame warriors to defeat (and, in fact, do not appear to have been defeated), I consider them to be of extremely limited real power.

Leuthesius of Infoceptor has indirectly caused multiple large flame wars and destroyed a corrupt admin. It was really cool. No one can defeat him. The enemy tried to ban him around 20 times and he only gained more supporters each time.

"Lord" Mike Wong. So far he's crushed all comers simply by actually considering his positions rationally.

I really liked Neoolong's approach. Simple and direct, crush all opposition. Could curb the aggression a little though, and be a little more tactful.

No, mike simply starts with the simple approach of examining the evidence to figure out what is right.....thats why he doesnt loose....

Someone that can win without having evidence behind them is either
a) smarter than the person they are talking with and running verbal rings round them
Or
b) Really really well suited to a career in politics.

Really, I was just trying to stir the shit by bringup Darkstar. His defensive abilities are peversely admirable, but he's got no offensive power whatsoever at this point.

Mike Wong is probably the best warrior I've seen in action personally. It's easy to be invincible when you're always attacking from stronger position.

I know he's done a few call outs, but considering, Mike Wong is often the target of sticks and stones from across the street. He is a true flame warrior for the point that he stands his ground on what he's studied and knows. Then he defends it when someone runs it down, and then charges on the cowards that hide from afar.

Flame Warriors...I've known some powerful ones in my day.

RMS's bitching about GNU/Linux vs Linux is annoying. Also, they are still trying to develop the HURD after 10 years, having a 1 year head start on Linux. Why they continue to try to develop it amazes me. He has contributed a lot though.

I would put Patrick Degan on the list, as far as sci-fi goes: he tends to be quite thorough and well-informed in his posts, generally leaving the reader with the impression that he's done his homework and the other guy hasn't.

Of course, we're only thinking in terms of legitimate debate. If the Wall of Ignorance counts as debate, the lists change, but really, a WOI only makes you an annoying flamewarrior, not a good one. It just means you refuse to admit when you're beaten.

He who knows himself and his enemy will never in a hundred battles be at risk.

You can't fault him for being right so consistently.

When it comes to bicycle mechanics, you will not win a debate against me. 10+ years of working on bikes, 5 years doing it for a living and a good mechanical and science background means I know damn near everything about bikes and I can see through all they hype. I've personally ruined 3 bicycle message boards with my cynical view of the shitty design and engineering that's infected bicycle design in the last few years. One board ended up banning me so they could keep their delusional fantasies and wank over their bike of the month.

People that have impressed me, Sharp Phil and Ken Cook on Selfdefenseforums. They're very knowledgeable and both have a way with words, especially Ken. No one has won a debate against them as far as I know. They destroy arguments with facts and logic in some really well written posts. Sharp Phil is also know for his lengthy point by point rebuttals of sophist trolls where he makes them look like the blithering idiots they are.
