Remember when we didn't take Peak Oil seriously...

to lighten up a bit on peak oil in SDN. Once upon a time, we didn't take Peak oil seriously as we do today. We shrugged it off as doom mongering and fantasies of people who wanted the world to end. Today we take it so seriously as we are planning for what we and our families will do during peak oil.

Threads chronicling our evolution from peak oil being a joke to serious topic

We shrugged it off..

I'm disappointed I don't see Duchess Marina stating that windmills and hydroelectric dams will save humanity, though. :)

IP sure pulled a "Saul to Paul" conversion over the years.

Well, the dieoff.org people are alarmists and kind of loony. They're extreme fatalists who anticipate a near mass extinction of humanity and consider a reversion to Middle Ages or even Neolithic society likely. However, I don't know how a soberminded person - especially anyone educated about the modern macroeconomic regime - confronted with the straight data can come to a different conclusion other than we're in for some hard and unprecedented times, that the problem is largely one of mass disinformation and malignant cultural trends, and that we had better get our act together very soon. Its a brave new world, or at least it had better be.
