Thats why I have mixed feelings for this, I mean I'd love for a metroid movie to be made, but it'll never be made well. It's gonna suck like hell what they do to one of the coolest video game series ever.

Seriously, I think Metriod would be a better movie if they just made it completely 3D, like Final Fantasy.

Final Fantasy is probably the only video game movies I liked. It's a shame; Tomb Raider, a far inferior movie, outdid Final Fantasy the summer they were both released.

Just like none of the games have anything to do with eachother. They are all completely independant stories. The movie was no different in that sense.

I'm really leery about this one...I haven't played the most recent Metroid games, but is there really that much plot that it can avoid just being an FX orgy?

The thing that really pissed me off about FF was the the Americans got involved in anything more than the FX, so I blame them for the film's faults.

Shit, I'm already plenty pissed about the upcoming live action Akira. But if they announce anything like a live action Evangelion, expect me to go absolutely fucking nuts in rage.

What sort of plot could there be if there were only a single human and no other sentient beings (characters!!!) in the whole thing?? At least from what I understand, Samus is the only major character while everyone else are aliens that have no dialogue or anything at all.

You think that's bad? It wasn't until Prime and Fusion that a Metroid game ever had an actual plot.

It's actually one of the cooler things about the Metroid series. It got where it is today almost solely off it's gameplay.

Yeah...but you fail to address the question I was raising: What kind of movie could it be without basic things as characters?? I guess you could argue that movies like Castaway were perfectly fine without characters...but...I dunno, I don't see an action movie working without characters.

They'd invent at least one new character, add him to the Metriod side, and have him played by someone like Jeremy Irons...

To be honset I CAN" belive how badly they fucked up with Final Fantasy, Take imporabable plot, toss in vauge charaters and rediculious psedo religious refences and you have a tanker of a movie

Hell just copy FF6(FF3 Stateside)'s plot to the letter and it would have been FAR more intresting

Realisticly speaking, what are some of the worse fuck ups they could do to this movie?(meaning changes they would accually make)

My thought, making Ridly a rival bounty hunter, human, with a jet pack, a an equal to samus, with some past history with her, to give some background for the characters.

Time to add another entry into the "failed movies based on video games" column.

Hmm...well considering we all think it's going to be a colossal failure already, we should concentrate on putting in things that will make it go up instead of down. I vote for putting in Jango/Boba Fett to fight Samus.

I've been having ideas of how to make a metroid movie that allows for sequels. fuck me
