.22, then .33, then .28, then .22 for another seven tries....

This isn't a good test because it measures the time it takes from the background change to the time when the javascript button is released rather than when it is clicked. As a result it's measuring several different reaction parameters rather than just reaction time.
Oh, and the site is also infested with popups and it crashes older versions of IE. Works find with Mozilla, though.

Then just click on the button, but don't release it until you see the color change. Thats what I did.

This is what I did as well, but it really didn't change anything.

.21
Though I suspect relatively small differences in mouse quality can affect the number by quite a large margin

I have three pointing devices on this system (touchpad, tablet w/ pen & mouse-puck) and which finger I use seems to make the biggest difference in reaction time. The path to the shortest reaction time, however, seems to be to use the keyboard.

The usual is around .22 seconds, using the keyboard. (Mouse I usually get .33) Fastest I got was .21 seconds, actually reacting. I tried keeping the enter key slightly depressed for awhile, which gives alot of early starts if you're not careful. I actually got 0 seconds five times by accident this way, and .11 seconds once.

Aaahh, that's much better. Using your method I get .16-.17 pretty consistantly, without (click and release after change) I get .33 and occasionally .27. Whew, thought I was gettin' old...

Damn it! .28 so far....no wonder I usually lose in those situations where players pop up out of nowhere and it's just a question of who shoots first in CS.

However, I did just score a 0
amazing what rockin' music will do for ya. Quake anyone?
Quick qualm about it though. That little flashing ad fucks with you. I had to highlight it so it would be died down a bit. Then this thing was acting like an asshole and as soon as you hit start it changes color. Was still poungin out .28 though.
