This is what happens when the gov't lowers hiring standards. All I can say is YUCK, I bet this left one hell of a mess:

Well, he's icky, he's sticky, and he's all over the place... Damn that's gotta suck, I guess he simply lost his head when he ran into the prop.

Ugh...the shit that goes on...

Well there was the guy who got sucked into the engine of an A-6 intruder, and was up and talking about it 3 hours later. He was lucky in that he wasn't pulled all the way through.

SS: I saw a clip of that a few times. Amazing...
Well, looks like something other than the shit hit the fan this time.

It was because his helmet wasn't strapped on all the way. If it were strapped on all the way, his entire body would have been sucked into the intake. He was able to slip out of the helmet to survive. Who'd figure that not following safety regulations would actually save your life?

Hopefully he didn't have any significant chunks of metal on him. A belt buckle is enough to explode a jet engine if it hits the fan blades. That guy was very lucky to live.
I think in general following regulations is probably a good thing. "Don't apply large amounts of heat to the Zuni's? Why not?"

The only reason i could see why he walked in the propeller is he was on drugs.

Maybe. My Dad was in the air force back in the 50s, when they had a lot more prop planes in service. He tells me they always warned you not to stare at the blades too long, as they supposedly have a hypnotic effect. I've no idea if that's
really true, but it was was widely reported and believed at the time.

Maybe he was engaged in a furious fistfight with an archaeologist who was trying to stop him from taking the Ark of the Covenant to Germany, while the archaeologist's girlfriend knocked out the pilot with a heavy wooden block. This caused the pilot to slump forward onto the controls, making the plane taxi slowly around in circles. He turned his back on the propeller at the fateful moment, and got sliced 'n diced

I'm not getting it now, either.
It wasn't much: hardly even two paragraphs.
And no pictures. That's sloppy journalism.

Ugh. That's what I'd call 'instagib'.
Like others, I seriously want to know how you can miss an airplane propeller. They're BIG, LOUD, SPINNING things. It'd be like walking into a large wall surrounded by neon lights and with a single spike protruding from it and a sign that reads WARNING: DEATH WILL OCCUR IF YOU WALK ONTO THIS SPIKE. In other words, it's possible, but you gotta really want it to happen.

Yuck, I can only imagine what the cleaning staff had to go through with that.
At least the coroner had an easy job.
"Death by prop brought on by strong stupidity."

Do you think he decided to commit suicide.

Nope. As soon as he got out, I think he just walked away. He was DAMN lucky. No wounds at all...that's hard to believe. He still flies, I think. I was speaking with his superior (now retired) about the incident.
And yeah, if he followed regulations and didn't walk that close, he wouldn't have gotten sucked in.

I wonder if this has been made a Darwin Award yet...

I remember a Darwin Award where the guy walked right through moving propeller blades, and didn't get hit. Then he realized his mistake, then quickly moved backwards.
Didn't live to regret his mistake.

Isn't that a little too late to say that?

It reminds me of that scene in Catch-22 when the guy is standing on the raft, and a plane flys low and cuts his upper body off.
