it's just a matter of time before the artisrs bypass the record companies completely, give the music away for free or dirt cheap and make money off of concerts like it should be.
Get your fill of sci-fi, science, and mockery of stupid ideas

As long as you're earning your nickname...why, specifically, would an artist give away music for free or dirt cheap? Big bands get people to promote them, arrange their affairs, tours, and do basically all the work for them, and they make big paychecks to go with it.Col. It's my plot to revive classical music and have a cultural renaissance that will sweep the world once again! I call upon the souls of all great composers and musicians to help me in my assault on the music industry!!! MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
(Stairs out over a balcony ala AotC.)
(Music segues into the Ride of the Valkyries.)
(Hordes of dead classical composers and musicians march around, with batons and instruments in their hands.)
(They begin beating up rappers, boy/girl groups, rock groups, etc.)
(They seize the radio station and begin broadcasting the Ride of the Valkyries as they attack, for all the world to hear.)
(They start collecting all CDs with crappy music and throwing them into a massive pile.)
(They pour gasoline over it and destroy them all.)
(The music segues into the last few chords of Bach's Tocata and Fugue in D Minor for the organ, except they are held for an exceptionally long period of time and are fortissimo.)
Thank you.Col. Crackpot wrote:it's just a matter of time before the artisrs bypass the record companies completely, give the music away for free or dirt cheap and make money off of concerts like it should be.

I can see that happening only for small, local bands. For bigger bands that have been signed I don't see it happening.Col.
