What sort of games do you mean by franchise games? A series with other products tied in? Or games that are tied into some other media franchise?

I'll be the first to admit that the Final Fantasy franchise has a firm grip on my wallet. I don't mind since I like those games.
I'm also sitting here with a complete The Sims package, all expansion packs. Someone should add The Sims to a list of addictive drugs... How the heck did they manage to get me to pay for
5 expansion packs?

Mostly, I mean games that are supposed to tie into a pre-existing fanchize, but in-game franchizes can work too.

Robotech: Battlecry
For in-game franchises:
Final Fantasy
Armored Core
Gran Turismo

I've gotten to the point where anything with the word 'Final Fantasy' or 'Mario' or 'Quake' on it makes me lunge violently around with my credit card, attempting to purchase things. If they ever make a game called 'Final Quaking Mario Fantasy', I will probably have a giant orgasm and die.

I'm a faithful follower of the Final Fantasy series, although I'm not sure whether or not I'll go for Final Fantasy XI. I will definitely be getting Final Fantasy Origins and Final Fantasy X-2, though. Another series that I've followed is the much less known RPG series Suikoden. I recommend giving any one of the three games a shot if you own a PS2 and haven't yet.

The Madden series of football games has been pretty remarkable. As far as franchises go, that has got to be my favorite. For the most part, I don't usually enjoy getting sequels to games I already have, unless they have been improved upon tremendously. Each year, the Madden games have consistently gotten better and better, and have consistently been the best pro football franchise video game out on the market today.

Definetly Blizzard's games.
The GTA series is awesome.
I've always liked the FF series of games, though I haven't played X.
There's a few Star Wars winners too. (JKO, Bounty Hunter, RS2)
The Smackdown series of WWE games good. Gradually, slowly getting better. But the N64 games were omni, and the ruled in their day.

Star Trek games, damn I love them. As long as starship combat is involved, I'll pay for it, no matter how bad it is. Besides, Starfleet Command is probably my favorite game of all time.
Zelda. Overstated plot, ridiculous adventures, not a roleplaying game by any stretch of the imagination...and fun as hell to play.
Star Wars. 'Nuff said.
Final Fantasy. I don't have a playstation, but I have FF7 and 8 on pc, those games are a ton of fun.
Sim-anything except coaster and theme park (they aren't actual sim games). I once got my video-game hating mother to play SimCity 2000 for six hours. How they can take a game with no real way to win and make it so much fun is beyond me.
Mario. Just the first game out for any system (except gamecube). Those games are like electronic crack, you just gotta play and play.

)
Godzilla: Monster of Monsters and Destroy All Monsters Melee for Nintendo and Gamecube (respectfully)
Tony Hawk: Pro Skater series
Star Wars (I liked the new Arcade version...cept I always lost when I had to use the Lightsaber -_-;)
All I can think of at the moment...

We will win through, no matter the cost!
Further, I will attempt to buy anything resembling Tolkien or Middle Earth. Unfortunetly, this is hampered by the sad fact that I do not actually have any money, and the last time I tried to use someone else's they were not very understanding of the situation.
Further, if they ever make a game or a movie or an action figure from the Black Company series, I will have it, come hell or high water.

The FFs, although personally I thought FF8 fucking SUCKED. And I personally don't liek the idea of Square breaking the unspoken rule: Thou shalt not use one FF universe in ANY game more than once.
And ofcourse the GTAs, the original was OK, as was London addition. GTA 2 was a major improvment, and I occaisonally pot it int for some top-down fun. GTA 3 and Vice City? Revolutionized what I call games.
Command & Conquer. I own practially everyoen and every expansion (except Renegade, ugh). I love everyoen of 'em too, even the original sustains a nostalgic charm.
DOOM. BEST FPS EVER! Well for its time anyways, although its making a comeback (DOOM FOUR!!!).
And finally, the Shinobi series. From the original Joe Musashi won my heart. Damn he was awesome. I love Shinobi, and although the newest one was a depart from the norm, it was still good. As an aside, Joe Musashi was a secret character!

Wait, when the hell did that happen? Besides that animated film supposedly taking place in FFV's continuity.

A friend of mine is convinced that Shinobi is a fruitcake. Must be the red scarf.
