Stupid DEA...

Another blow to personal liberties by the DEA (the organization with reign over prohibition without representation).
The two substances 5-MeO-DiPT and AMT are going to be placed into the Schedule I very soon, as the DEA just announced their intentions to do it.
This isn't because people got hurt, but because they're seeing more use. I thought drug prohibition was supposed to be about safety, not control. Why can't we have a system where I'm accountable for my idiotic mistakes, and not at the mercy of some beauracracy?

Two "research chemicals" (drugs that are semi-legal) that are being scheduled (made illegal without question) for no good reason. It's prohibition without representation, and it sucks.

5-MeO-DiPT(5-Methoxy-Diisopropyltryptamine): Invented by Alexander Shulgin in the late 70's. The "research chemical" name does not denote legitimate research, but rather their shady legal status. However, there have been no reported injuries or deaths from the chemical.
It is generally, in my opinion, not much of a good time after a while. It's side effects (nausea, vomitting) have a tendency to intensify with each use. But it doesn't seem to be dangerous, and there is no evidence that it is. In fact, the only seem risk in overdoses of around five times the recommended maximum have left the users (who did it either by misreading a label or just being fucking stupid) without much in the way of physical harm.

AMT (Alpha-Methyltryptamine): A chemical you might remember if you've ever read The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. It was developed in the 60's, along with it's chemical cousin AET, and investigated as a possible anti-depressant (it has MAOI properties, which are it's chief danger.) In fact, in the USSR, it was sold as one, and still is, under the brand name Indopan.
Again, no reported deaths from AMT, though it does carry a bit of danger if you're misinformed or just fucking dumb. Don't eat tyramine containing foods if you ever happen to take it. Hypertensive crisises(sic?) are likely not much fun.

But with no reported deaths or anything along the lines, the DEA is banning them both. It's ridiculous, and can only be described as bullshit. There is never a justification for a ban, IMO, but not even a shadow of one here.
