I assume you've all heard of the letter from the 8 European countries (UK, Spain, Italy, etc.) backing Bush's stance on Iraq? Seems France & Germany don't have quite the control over the EU that they wish they had.

Last time around they got seven years. There's no reason to expect them to be massively more success this time around. Inspections can only work with active Iraqi cooperation, the inspectors where never suppose to have to look for anything, Iraq would present everything it had ready to blow and it would then be destroyed while the inspectors watched. That's why it never worked, none of that happened. The inspector had to find stuff on their own, and then they had to blow it them selves.

Not surpassingly, a 100 or so people can't find much in a large countries that’s actively hiding the stuff. Iraq was given a second chance to actively cooperate. They haven't.

What France and Germany want is to delay everything until the summer heat makes a ground war impossible. Then France will have a chance collecting on 20 billion worth of Iraqi oil contracts in the future and Germany won't have to own up to selling Iraq its chemical weapons infrastructure again.

I understood that only Germany wishes the inspectors more time, France don't want war since Iraq still owes them oodles of money. Same thing with Russia.[/i]

I am so sick and freaking tired of those anti-Semitic, effeminate, cowardly French bastards screwing with the minds of everyone on the planet. Paris: the city of whores. Last time I saw a statistic, ELEVEN PERCENT of France's oil was refined from illegal Iraqi crude. This war isn't just about oil, but France's attempt to keep the US and the West out of it is.

We signed it (and wrote part of the text), and I'm glad.

Historically, our only allies are the English and the U.S. Nowadays, in case of trouble (say, a big bomb in the middle of Lisbon, compliments of the arabian terrorist league), the major military assistance would depend on both.

I'm all for a federal Europe, but not on the expense of betraying those who actually have helped us.

All those countries signed that piece of paper just out of calculation, not out of the depth of their deeply-felt friendship with the USA.

As for Germany: It's Schröder's only choice to be against the war, otherwise his coalition would go down in flaming ruins. And a German participation in a war, especially without a new UN resolution, could very well violate our constitution.

More intresting is the fact that France six months ago was falling overthemselves to jump onboard, Now they switched positions, Much like they did during the FIRST Gulf War where they venetmely opposed ANY action until American and British Troops started womping down Saddam's Troops then they where all on board

After fighting them for 400 years, the worst thing we did was make friends with them.
