BBC: Lion Rips woman's arm off
www.POE-News.com wrote:A woman from south Wales is recovering in a Spanish hospital after she had her arm torn off by a lioness at an animal sanctuary.

Fifty-four-year-old grandmother Annie Richards from Neath is in a stable condition in hospital after surgery following the attack on Wednesday.

The initial operation by surgeons in the town of Villajoyosa was described as "successful" by a spokesman at the British Embassy in Madrid.

Mrs Richards, who was visiting the El Arca Safari Park near Alicante with her sister, is understood to have been invited to put her hand in the lioness's mouth at a tourist show.
WTF?! Who's the asshole who told her that?! Feed HIM to the Lions!

Probably the same person laughing his arse off that she actually did it. It is still stupid. Would you dangle your testicles into a pool of hungry pirhana even if invited by a nice person? No? Awww...

*Puts camera away*

You'd want a picture of that? o O!

Anyways... [ahem] Since when do you dangle body parts in front of animals that come from places not where they are? Dumbass...

Maybe it would've been better to ask her to put her head in instead?

Nein, they stopped putting those up now.

Hence...
31 July 2001, Ukraine | Before I retire this category forever, here's one last free spirit who learned a painful lesson while frolicking with large zoo animals.

A Ukrainian woman hopped the fence at Kharkiv Zoo to swim with Masha the hippopotamus. The woman's playtime was cut short when the three-ton herbivore abruptly changed its dietary habit and mauled the intruder, in defense of its offspring. The sinking swimmer was rescued from the irate mammal by irate zoo workers, who sent her to the hospital where she was listed in serious but stable condition.

Zoo officials said the woman's action was far from unusual: visitors commonly ignore warning signs and fences to cavort with the animals. Because this happens so often -- with polar bears, tigers, whales, and now a hippopotamus -- I am hereby adding it to the list of mental lapses which, while dangerous, occur too regularly to be amusing.

Damn. Oh, well. If only she had stuck her head in.... Never mind... she still wouldn't get it. FUCK!. No animal deaths. [shrugs] Oh, well.

I can imagine someone dressed as Spock diving in to swim with the sharks in a moment of connection with nature... only to have each limb ripped off and then broken in two like Samuel L. "motherfucking" Jackson in Deep Blue Sea, but without the good payoffs.

The limb was not recovered because other lions pounced on it, the Spanish news agency Efe reported.
Sorry, but I couldn't help but crack a smile at that one.

Found a pic of her

Edit: And it may be that she wasn't invited to put her hand into the lioness mouth by park officials and just did it for the thrill of it.
But the sanctuary vigorously rejected the claim, saying all tour parties are expressly warned prior to visiting not to put their hands through the pens and to stick to marked routes.

Mrs Richard's sister, Carol Jones, from Bryncoch, tried to dissuade her from going to stroke the lion, according to the sanctuary's owner Serafin Domenech Sanchez.
