Just saw this on TV:

Opening shot is of a late-twenties, early-thirties women looking at a pregnancy test. She fiddles with it, lays it on the countertop. It's positive.

Her husband walks in and hugs her. Text at the bottom of the screen says "They'll have a new addition to their family soon."

Few seconds, then "Their lives will be changed forever."

So is this a commercial for childcare? Life insurance? Medical services? Baby products? No, because we then see:

"They will be the youngest grandparents in town."

Cut to a shot of a young, teenage girl crying and hugging her knees.

So what is this? Contraceptive ad? Abortion clinic? Counseling clinic? Adoption advert? Safe-sex reminder?

Hardly. Because we then the screen fades to black and it says


"Marijuana; it can seriousy impair your judgement."

WTF? It's a fucking MARIJUANA commercial? What dumbfuck thought THAT one up?

Alright, the one with the loaded gun made some sense, but this is seriously false advertising. Besides, why are they singling out marijuana? I'm sure far more people got pregnant while drunk.

I'm glad I havn't seen that becuase from what you say that commercial made no sence and is pretty fucked up.

I must say I have not been impressed with the anti drug commercial blitzes of late. There has never been a very effective ad campaign that can truly reach out to kids and make it seem really wrong somehow - except MAYBE for this is your brain on drugs commercial.

I think Frank Zappa's idea for an anti-drug campaign would be a good idea.

Commercial starts out in 1969; shows two college-age hippies, one male and one female, smoking pot and acting generally stupid, like most pot smokers do.

Flashforward to 2003. Shows the same couple, but clearly aged, talking about the 60's in front of their kids, while sounding like morons. Bewildered look on the faces of the children (also college-age).

Fade to black. Message appears:

"Marijuana will turn you into your parents."

I probably has something to do with the fact that the alcohol industry donates thousands, if not millions of dollars toward the campaign funds of key politions.

You don't know much about drugs do you? Marijuana, or specifically THC, messes up a person as much as alocohol does,

Marijuana is hardly harmless as it's many advocates claim. And it's illlegal for a reason.

I don't think marijuana needs to be illegal, but it's not the benign, harmless drug that so many of its advocates claim it to be. Worse yet, stoner culture is destructive, encouraging sloth, idiocy, victimology (you know what I'm talking about, stoner culture thrives off the fact that marijuana is illegal), and lost productivity. Marijuana needs to be legalized in order to kill stoner culture, not to appease it.

yes, it messes up a person but in a completely different way than alcohol. it´s not likely that you´ll end up with a kid because you went out stoned. it´s likely that that happens because you were drunk.

i´ve never heard of a marihuana addict. i´ve never heard of a person who died due to the direct usage of thc. i´ve heard of loads of people who died due to the direct usage of alcohol.

the reason why it´s illegal is the alcohol industry and old prejudices.

i´m not even saying that it can not be a dangerous drug. it can cause certain people to get depressive, sure.
but i cant see a reason to outlaw it if alcohol is legal which causes a lot more deaths and financial problems for the health insurances´.

and it needs to be legalized to save the money for all the law files against cannabis smokers and in the us to make space in prisons for real criminals.

I also like the ad that shows some kid getting busted for smoking pot, and then tries to pass the fact that you can get busted for pot off as one of the harmful effects of marijuana. Well, no SHIT getting arrested is harmful, but you assholes are the ones making the arrest, not the marijuana. It's harmful in that respect because YOU made it that way.

If it is destructive only to the person using it, and in that regard no moreso than alchohal, I see no reason to illegalize it.
