GRRR!

Okay, my IE is fubar... time to reboot computer? Every time I try to do certain things on SD it fucks up the IE and closes one or more of my windows, including the one with SD on it, and I can't log in on AOL for some reason. Other thing is, it marks EVERYTHING read, which gets really annoying? How do I fix both these problems? (ie, the IE quitting on me, and the marking everything read)
[EDIT] It marks everything read everytime I close browser manually, as well, on this computer.

That's very unusual. What version of IE are you using? What processes do you have running? Have you checked for spyware or done a virus scan recently?

If you wanna get rid of cancer then you extract the tumour. Get rid of IE on your PC and we'll talk.

Very funny. Your opinion differs from mine. GET OVER IT. I'm already pissed off enough at AOL and MSN...

Calm down, calm down, I'm sure it'll fix itself sooner or later. IE isn't totally defunct, but I'd take my chances with third party browsers myself.

Well, for the most part it's probably NOT my ISP being AOL... I just don't know whats going on with the IE. Also, how the hell do I get it so it doens't mark everything read when I close the browser???

Have you tried repairing IE? (search for IE Repair on the MS Knowlege Base)

Okay, things to do: clear your cache, including cookies. That may help with some issues. This may also solve the "mark all read on exit" problem.
Upgrade to IE6. IE5 is rather old and has a bunch of rendering issues that were resolved in later versions. I say again: get rid of IE5.

Delete everything in:
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files
You can re-download all those plugins later.

Oh and I still have IE4 on my computer- let my sister suffer for using IE. All those annoying errors pop up on a javascript laden site

I nuked my computer awhile ago trying to remove Xupiter with ad-aware when it was still up to date. My stupid sister keeps using IE. I recommend setting 'security' settings to HIGH.

I'm on AOL also. I picked up a glitch in my IE that won't let me right click on things and "save them as" so most of the time I run Netscape. Netscape 7 and 7.01 are pretty good and 7.01 has pop-up disable on it. They've both been configured to work better with AOL since that's who owns Netscape. I think you can download it for free or for less than five bucks they'll send you a disk.
