You have been selected to head up the US Navy's Naming Comission on a New series of Vessels
These Ships are a harken back to the Days of Yesteryear, Based on an updated Version of the Aegis Class but 1.5 Times longer, Much better armored and armed
Basicly the newest fastes/strongest/most badass ship to sailt the high seas
You have been selected to name both this type of ship and the first six ships of the run
What will you call them?

We're trying to make the USN sound decent, right now I've seen Michelin travel maps with more military bravado.

Actually it was the tradition of the navy for a long time to name cruiser for cities (with a few noteable exceptions) and battleships for states.

Still sucks as a naming tradition more than a $5 whore with a bag of lemon bon-bons.
Go for decent names, Conqueror, Vengeance, Victory, Victorious, Leviathan, Iron Duke, Invincible, Onyx and my personal favourites:
Dreadnaught and
Thunderchild.

now the navy is naming it's sub's that way.
SBN's (boomers) get named after states
USS Alabama
USS Rhode Island
USS Ohio
while SSN's(fast attack) get named after Cities:
USS Los Angeles
USS Cheyanne
USS Orlando
