Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has denied any links with Osama Bin Laden's al-Qaeda network, a British television station has said.
"If we had a relationship with al-Qaeda and we believed in that relationship, we wouldn't be ashamed to admit it," the Iraqi leader said in an interview with a visiting member of the British parliament, according to Channel Four television.
The United States and Britain have accused Iraq of aiding al-Qaeda, which is widely believed to have been behind the 11 September, 2001, attacks on the United States.
The release of details of the recorded interview comes the day before US Secretary of State Colin Powell is due to present what he says is evidence that Iraq is producing banned weapons of mass destruction.
