Whats a good Valentines Day gift for a girl who you aren't officially dating but you see almost every day and are very close to. Something that would get a good response but not seeming to serious or creepy? Max - $100 and it should be something I can get within the next week or so. If I screw this up i'm a be toast.

Chocolate? Card and flowers? Wine laced with Rophynol?

Flowers are always good.

Chocolate + Flowers = Always good. Unless she hates chocolate. Which could be possible.

I was thinking something a little less cliche but I guess the ol' candy + flowers equation never fails...

Yes, flowers and candy are cliche, but they work. Another thought: Has she been looking at a dvd or cd lately she's been wanting? Or... a charm bracelet, if she likes jewlery.

I know she doesn't want a puppy but not because she doesn't like them but I'll have to drop some inquries on the whole DVD/CD thing. Do those bracelet things really work though? and wheres a good plae to find those?

Atmosphere.
Spend a little cash to take her somewhere with a different ambiance, atmosphere, or whatever you want to call it. Just give her a different experience than she is expecting. I'm not talking suite at the Ritz, either. Remember; you go out to be together, talk together, have fun together. Keep the focus on yourselves and not trinkets. Good atmosphere is priceless, and often doesn't come too expensive if you plan ahead.
I never gave flowers or candy - not only is it a cliche, but it doesn't set you apart from the pack! Instead, do something she likes, but amplify it a bit. For example, I took a girl to do what she loved to do - play pool. When I told her this, she was unimpressed; after all, she played all the time. But what she didn't know was that I'd called ahead to Le Skratch, a big establishment with 'private playing rooms' available for hourly rental. When we got there, we were ushered to a private room, presented with wine, and had our own selection of in-room music; a real step up from playing in pubs and regular halls.
I later played the same card when I asked my ladyfriend to come see a romantic movie that she'd been pining to go see. What she thought would be mundane became something special when we got there and she discovered that I'd rented out the theatre for a special showing (like they do for b-day parties). So it was just her and me and credit-card-tabbed food cart catering at her beck and call.
Now, in both cases, the date was memorable because it was a surprise for the girl to see something simple that she liked and having it made special.
Now, you obviously won't want to break the bank renting a theatre, but use your imagination. Do what SHE wants, especially if you've asked HER out. Just buy the proper atmosphere. Have your girl in a special place, environment, or event, and then you can put the focus on you being together and not the batch of dead plants you slung a few bucks at in token of the season. You might find that to be a big boost for your relationship, as long as you're not a klutz at conversation.

Try the Sushi shop, smoke a little weed, then prepare the strap-on boosters cuz you're gonna blast off and go for a ride you'll never forget!!! Works for me!

On a slightly related note, and if it goes to long hopefully it can be split off:
But, I'm in sorta the same situation as Fanboy is in. Except the girl said before that she doesn't believe in Valentine's Day. So am I still supposed to or should I get her something?

Go for it! Ye Olde 1-2-3 Punch of Sushi, Chocolate, and Weed always does it for me!

I always get a kick out of Einhander posts. You never know what he's going to say next. He's like Noni juice for the board (this is a good thing).
I don't know, seeing our posts back to back is like watching a guy hand out a rose and a soft discourse of sonnets, and following that right up with dancing around the room in a body-sized condom and a sombrero.

See my post. Although I'm more long-winded than el Nino, I seriously believe that if you're nervous or uncertain, do something she likes, and pay extra attention to providing a unique or special atmosphere; make the mundane interesting.
When in doubt, learn how to roll a paper napkin into a rose at the dinner table. Original meets cliche. Or maybe not; most of my dating was done in the late eighties and early nineties.

I did. The problem isn't whether or not there is a relationship type thing. The problem is that she doesn't believe in Valentine's Day, so I'm reluctant to do anything for it.

Then get her something for the 13th and the 15th, and conspicuously avoid the 14th. Funny works.

Might be the same thing, actually. Here; I found a link that not only gives you a Noni juice spokesman, but also the website of a bunch of young, athletic, capoeira acrobat boys. See what kind of guy I am? *laugh*

I have found that something simple works.
A single rose and a teddy bear has worked for me a couple times.
Or you could do what I do more often and get the crap slapped out of you (that is, if she is only a casual aquaintance). Buy Victoria's Secret lingerie and tell her you wanna see what they look like on someone.

He's a nice sentimental gift that she'll probably like. Go out and find a nice small rose plant (the little potted kind) and get a nice pot for it. It's something a bit romantic but nice as well.

depends on. if you want to find out if she´s a real keeper go for the weed. if she accepts it ´she´ll not only be cool on that issue but will also be a lot more chilled in other stuff. maybe. in the end it´s still a woman, and we all know ho unpredictable and illogial they usually act.
