Im getting raped by my insurance company but quotes with other companies are almost as bad. I think it is the car, but Im gonna go check with the DMV tomorrow to make sure my record is straight.
Im paying $650 / 6 months which is fucking ridiculus for a car that is worth mabye 7 or 8 grand.
What are you paying?

1,000 every six months for a '97 Nissan truck.
If you want to halve your insurance rates, try removing collision from your policy.

That might save some money but its not what I want to do. Im 31 with no tickets in the last 13 years and I had 1 accident 3 years and 1 month ago. So my record is clear, similar drivers should be paying about 300-400 every 6 months.
Last month my combined discount was 365 bucks. I had a surcharge of 244 due to an accident. This month the accident clears and my surcharge is 0. But the fuckers lowered the discount to 244. Hmm... it was 365 or more for the last 3 years. Bastards.

Might have something to do with the theft rate on those. Isn't the Civic one of the most commonly stolen cars?
Oh, and I heard before that with all the kids tricking out their Civics that insurance companies raised the standard rates on them. Don't know if that's true or not though.

That is my thoughts too. Especially here in the Bay Area, you know as well as I do how many fricking Civics are around.

IIRC, the Toyota Camry has topped the most frequently stolen lists for several years in a row. The Civic's up there, along with most new SUVs.

I drive a 2001 Civic, I'm 19, already have one ticket in the last 2 months (have been driving since September), and I think the insurance is like $1200 or so per year, probably way off too...
*makes note to add more spare money to the "future speeding tickets stockpile" which is currently up to $174 incase he picks up another porker doing 80 in a 60, also makes note to complain to the state legislators about the exorbitant fines for "agressive driving" that they now imposed which would be real bad for him if a porker saw him cutting people off, blasting music, and tailgating. the buggering new laws take all the fun out of driving...*
You're paying WAY too much. What's your insurance company? I've got State Farm.

Your car is very small, thats probably why its so high. Hit a rabbit and it will explode like a soap box racers in an episode of the Simpsons.

That sounds reasonable if a bit high for an 86 model year.
---edit ----
DMV record is completely clear. Grrrr.
