Getting Booted from Other Boards

Im taking the plunge and I joined a board for one of those late night tv scam artists. I plan to try and debate some of the more stupid claims of people on the board, but Im gonna go easy at first.

What I am curious about what is your experience on other boards? I get the impression that the mods from a lot of these places will not allow true debate and quickly ban dissenters. How long before claiming Noah's Ark is false did you get booted? That is the sorta thing Im interested in.

Just in case you are curious Ive joined these forums as IronMonkey.

Around December last year, I signed up at Rapture Ready (fundie board). I lasted 1 day and 25 posts before I was banned for being a "Subdermal Iritant".

They really hated me when I posted that god should not have made a law against killing if he could not follow it himself. That was actually my last post there.

Ive already found someone to pick on. There is a guy that is claiming the link between education and income is remote at best. He then says it is like comparing reading to health. WTF?

He also, is claiming that the govt has no right to ban him from Shuttle debris if it lands on his house.

So... if I set up explosives under his pickup truck, and have it blown onto my property, I can keep it?

Nice... if I knew where he lived, I'd do it.

Im sure he would rationalize some reason why you couldnt. But by his thinking you would be correct.

Hmf, I got banned for saying the authority of the Bible is in question.

Someone who claims that because something is on his property, he owns it does not have enough rationalizational skills to accomplish that. Even if he did, I could find a hole in his argument.

I find you can disagree, so long as you don't hurl insults at others on the board. This board is somewhat of an exception, as insults here are quite popular. But then it does say, "...and mockery of stupid people" on the banner, so one should expect as much.

I got banned at CreationWeb for being queer and asking what "Novus Ordo Seclorum" meant in the Great Seal of the United States, seeing as how we're founded on biblical principals and all....

Different boards have differing levels of sensitivity. On this board, we tend to crack down only on outright trolling, spamming, etc. (ie- activity which makes it difficult or impossible to carry on reasonable conversation by polluting the forums with spam or polluting threads by hijacking them, deliberately posting falsehoods rather than disagreeing about how to interpret the facts, etc).

On most boards, you're allowed to disagree with people but only if you do in a very polite, calm fashion.

And finally, on "ideologically pure" boards such as the WCOTC donkey-fuckers or most fundie boards, the act of disagreeing is ITSELF considered so offensive that you get banned immediately. For example, I once tried, for an experiment, going onto a fundie webboard with a brand-new Netscape mail address and posting a simple question: "Why do people say the seeking of sexual pleasure is decadent? Is there some Scriptural basis for this?" I was immediately banned. That's one of the reasons I don't bother going to fundie boards; it was my lone experiment and I didn't feel like wasting time with more of them.

I think on the board I joined getting banned is a real possibility since the primary purpose of the sight is to sell books and real estate seminar stuff. Ive noticed that people who outright challenge the books have posts in the single digits.

I'll see how long I get to stay around.
