Probably no one cares, and those who do already know, but I just discovered a program that lets you play Doom in XP. You must have Doom already installed. This is evidently a new engine that uses the old .wad files but does not require DOS. It has a start-up program that lets you select different wads to play, and you can edit certain files to use different music from your computer or a CD. Here is the link:

I've been playing it for a couple of days, and there does not seem to be any problem with it. The only difference between this and the original Doom is that the graphics are much better.

I don't know. I've never heard of zDoom. I just found this Doomsday a few days ago. Looking at zDoom's homepage, it looks like it is updated with some Quake-like features. As I said this one I found, called jDoom for the Doomseday engine, is essentially the same game as Doom. It has the same commands and functions as the original. No looking up or down, no jumping, automatic aiming, etc. The only changes I could see were improved graphics, a Quake style command promt activated by the [`] key, though you can still type commands like idbehold and idfa, and running into torches can cause damage.

Yea, it looks like they've been replacing textures and modeling a lot of stuff..

Eh, seen it. I used to use zDoomGL, which replaced the sprites with models, but it got boring. Has anyone tried the Legacy or Edge source port? I'm planning to get the new goldeneye mod sometime.

cool.
So do you have the "Full Stack"( gen with all modules) Genesis or just a "Turbo-charged "( gen with 32x) One? Also try to find Shadow Squadron and Star Wars Arcade. Long live Sega!
Btw i also have Doom for the Jaguar as well. I'm trying to find a Doom that works on a Pocket PC. The Old Win CE Doom crashes.

On a related note, I just reinstalled C&C on my XP computer, and I downloaded a patch from Westwood's site which makes it compatible with XP
. Die, Nod scum!
