The art of crashing Windows

I have only a question to ask but if anyone wants to discuss how to artistically crash windows, then go ahead.
My question is, seeing as how it takes about 30-50 programs up and running at the same time to crash XP, is there any reason why one would have 30-50 Internet Explorers or other programs up and running at the same time?
EDIT: Other than to crash windows ^_^

Believe it or not, at my last company there was an engineer that would routinely keep 30+ windows open at time. The scary thing was he pretty much knew what he was doing in each one. That is quite remarkable when considering while highly intelligent he was kinda dingy at times.
Any time he needed support, I had to remind him. Close and save all your work!

There's an art? I swear, you usually don't have to do anything. Hell, in the middle of typing this post, my comp suddenly restarted... If you feel like freezing windows, make a HTML file containing this:
Code: Select all
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>PLEASE FREEZE MY COMPUTER!!!</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="Javascript">
<!--
while(true)
{
window.open("http://www.stardestroyer.net/");
}
//-->
</SCRIPT>
</BODY>
</HMTL>

<snipped infinite loop>
That would indeed get the job done

On the subject of 30-40 windows open, that sounds like my normal load: 10-15 explorer windows, trillian (5 chat windows), YM (3-4 chat windows), ICQ (5-6 chat windows), winamp 2.80, kazaalite, shared folder open, lightwave 7.0, photoshop, and mspaint.
That's standard load for me, and people wonder why the hardware doesn't last more than 2 years before critical failures cause it to need replacement.

Kazza + winamp + IEs open = brink of death
Kazza + winamp + IEs open + something else = hit the fucking deck

While we're on this discussion about how we crash Windows, I wonder what it takes to crash Linux?

That particular situation regularly takes place on my 800 athlon with 256 megs.

Having over 10 thousand porno movies on your hard drive will do it.

Try mounting an XP NTFS partition during boot. That'll do the trick.

You mean more like have me try to operate Linux... 3 kernal panics in an hour and 3 installs... Needless to say the disks are collecting dust now.

I do wonder why there is a significant performance descrepancy between an Athlon T-bird 900 and a T-bird 1100... It's really wierd.

How To Trash Your Computer. Note: Back up all your data and dig out your Windows disk. You WILL need to reformat the thing.
1. Open IE
2. Set Security Settings to Low
3. Go to MSN Search.
4. Type in "Free Porn"
5. Start Hitting All Them Pretty Links!
6. Watch Your System Become a Smoldering Virused Popup-Infested Wreck.
7. Reboot and Repeat Several Times.
How to Fix:
1. Format C: /y
2. Install Linux...

'Tis called multi tasking...
...usually when a regular net user gets going in a night....he/she can easily be using up to 30 windows at a time easily...(especially with opera, only ten times more efficient than ie) as well as music, winmx, paint shop pro, diablo 2 in the background( occasionly playing) countless chat windows....XP hasn't crashed on me yet despite this load.

'cmon man, you've been round at my house....you see how I abuse multi-tasking....I had to get trillian because running MSN, Yahoo, IRC, ICQ and AIM at the same time along with PSP, WinMX, IE (for some sites), Opera (for general un-MS fucked sites), coffee cup (so much prettier for text editing pages than notepad), two or three copies of notepad (for things I want to jot down), a couple of wordpad windows (for whatever little bits of prose I'm working on) and winamp.....

That'll do it...
Now for the easy way of doing it, just go to run and tyope cmd. A command prompt will open up. Once inside, just type deltree windows, enter, y. That'll do it in, albeit rather permenantly.
