in the Academy Awards. Now will they follow the previous history of my life of picking a movie I didn't like for best picture, or could TTT win?

RoTK will win Best Picture and probably Best Director; at that point, the Academy will be seriously damaging what little credibility it has by refusing to honor Peter Jackson and co. for the third time in a row.

The Hours will get it, which is, from what I hear, another Beautiful Mind type film; one that will be forgotten a few months after it has gotten its Oscars, unlike the LoTR films.

A bunch of shit.......

Chicago - Otherwise known as Moulon Rouge - Part Deux

Gangs of New York - Scorceses Siphian Ordeal, although Daniel Day-Lewis does indeed rock in it

The Hours - More artsy , non-naked, Nicole Kidman movies.....

The Piano - More Holocaust moralizing and weepiness, Hollywood just loves them dead Jews....

None even close to TTT, but of course , its a 'fantasy' movie, and that shit is just for kids......Fucking Academy my asss.....

About Schmidt did not get nominated. Although I disagree with you, I thought it was a great movie, gratuitous nudity aside.

Science fiction/fantasy films never get the credit they deserve from the Academy. They tend to look for films with a "message" or something equally pompous and artsy-fartsy. Science fiction and fantasy films are generally more fun, creative and enjoyable by the majority of the population. Since the majority of the population enjoyed the Lord of the Rings films, they must be absolute crap, since they cater to a large audience than some depressing, artsy-fartsy piece of crap.

My money's going on the flick about the Holocaust.

Of course. Spielberg had to do the Holocaust picture to get the award... not for the shark movie, no sir. That made money. Never mind that it was one of the rare moments of artistic vision that actually managed to turn out a film more gripping and grand in scope than the pulp it came from. Never mind his transformation of a hindrance (fake-looking shark) into a true mechanism of suspense. Never mind the inclusion of engaging characters who rise above cliches to be memorable individuals. Can you say snubbing!!!

Yes, all these people care about is sad-artsy-depressing films.
As usual, sci-fi and fantasy gets screwed over....

Fucking blind retards.
BTW, I'm glad that TTT at least go nominated, but of course the Academy always does that, then the movie gets screwed.
Well, the British awards are more open at least.
Lucas won best director there. ( I don't know which exact reward though.)

It makes them look sensitive and refined to do so.

But at the expense of many other deserving films that happen to be fun and good. This just proves all the Oscar critics and so forth are a bunch of arrogant, supremely supeior humans who appease rich movie companies and political viewpoints. And when a movie gets popular among the public, even if it's the masterpiece of all time, gets screwed by the Oscars, which choose these artsy films that no one cares about, and will forgotten in a few months. Damn snobs....    [/i]

It'll probably be The Gangs of New York, which was atrocious history with a pounding political agenda, but if you turned off your brain, actually was rather nice to watch.

I don't know, do you think Scorsese gave out enough handjobs for it to win?
