So far, all that has been confirmed is that Anthony Hopkins will play Jor-El.
Get your fill of sci-fi, science, and mockery of stupid ideas

Yeah, I head it was going to fucking suck.Do all of us know about the upcoming Superman movie?
If they try to copy Spider-Man like they were planning, it will suck more than a drunk highschool slut.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Yeah, I head it was going to fucking suck.Do all of us know about the upcoming Superman movie?
I remember that. If that ever got made I would have firebombed the studio myself.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Is this the one where all of his power comes from his suit, and where Luthor is from Krypton?
That's the one that caused such an uproar that it was thrown out in a week. Among other things, Krypton was undergoing a civil war and that was why Kal-El was sent to earth, Clark let people die to flirt with Lois, and in a totally gratuitous action, Olsen was gay. And they were going to cancel Smallville for that. HaSpanky The Dolphin wrote:Is this the one where all of his power comes from his suit, and where Luthor is from Krypton?
Pardon me, but what in the FUCK were they thinking? And I can't stand Enterprise because it fucks with continuity? Blecchh!ReinnResauq wrote:That's the one that caused such an uproar that it was thrown out in a week. Batman 5 is indeed in the pipeline. Darren Aronofsky (Requiem For A Dream) has got Batman: Year One (I'm guessing prequel) on the move toward production, last I heard was that they were finalising the script and talking to certain actors about it.Gandalf wrote:I heard about that, is there anything about a new Batman movie?
HEY Where'd you get that info? I'm supposed to be the movie info guy.The Great Unbearded One wrote:Batman 5 is indeed in the pipeline. As for other sequels and prequels here's some news:
Inidana Jones IV - George Lucas hired Frank Darabont to pen it, while Spielberg has confirmed at May 2004 shoot for a summer 2005 release. Sean Connery will return.
Die Hard 4 - Stuck in limbo. The studio has the script. Willis is onboard to shoot it. Directors interested. It's going no where at the mo
Mad Max 4 - (most likely to be called Fury Road) are finishing off location scouting, and Gibson has pocketed a hefty $25-million paycheque for it. It will be made in Oz and it looks like it's budgets on the $104-million mark.
Riddick: Pitch Black 2 - Shooting starts off later this year, Vin Diesel is onboard and the pitch the stuidos are giving out at the mo is - "This film will veer away from the horror or Pitch Black and into sci-fi action land". It would seem Vin is trying to keep a certain stereotype about him.
Spiderman 2 - (WOOO HOOO ) Is in production, ETA Summer 2004! And I cant fucking wait!
Jurrasic Park 4 - (will they never learn) is on it's way for Summer 2004, but I dont have much knowledge on that one. But I'm guessing rampant dino's, humans, running, screaming, eating and totally fucking up Spielberg's excellent first one.
Independance Day 2: (didnt we already defeat the aliens?) is set for an opening in Summer 2004 too. Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich are claiming "we are not making the first film" and that they have come up with a concept "inspired by" 9/11. Will Smith has already passed.
Shrek 2 - (HURRAH!) is again coming for (guess what date, thats right) Summer 2004 and after the original smash this one was always on the cards. The plot remains a mystery, however John Cleese will be a voice along with Murphy, Myers and Diaz.
Alien 5 - The original rumour about 6 months ago was Cameron and Scott were teaming up to do it. They then said they had had talks. Now Scott has bowed out , Cameron, no word from him and Stan Winston (FX Guru) is saying that there is something in the pipeline, but it's not going to be set on Earth. Shame.
Star Wars Episode III - Confirmed date for July 2005 opening according to the Skywalker Ranch.
Once Upon A Time In Mexico - Third in the the down'n'dirty trilogy by Robert Rodriguez, following the kick-ass films of El Mariachi and Desperado. Set for an Autumn 2003 release. Banderas is back too. goody!
Thats about it from me!
Ah, a fellow movie buff! Well, I'm a MEGA MOVIE FREAK (and wannabe director) So I suggest we join forces and let our knowlege edcuate the more unwise of Off-Topic!ReinnResauq wrote: HEY Where'd you get that info? I'm supposed to be the movie info guy.
And why are they trying for sequels of movies that weren't that good or that have clearly reached the end of their line? Die Hard is done, Independence Day was a wonderful movie but it was clearly a one shot deal, Pitch Black wasn't good enough in the first place, Alien has been played out, and when Mad Max is so old that I can only remember it as "That Mel Gibson movie" it's clear that one is done. BTW, Jurassic Park 3 was so bad that the fact that they're even thinking about a fourth film means stupidity is contagious.
Sequels I want; The Mask 2, Final Fantasy 2, Back to the Future 4, Duct Tape Forever 2 (The Red Green movie), Ghostbusters 3, Ace Ventura 3, and Blade 3.
WTF were they thinking?ReinnResauq wrote:That's the one that caused such an uproar that it was thrown out in a week. We can't forget Starship troopers II, direct to video! The first one was sooooo bad yet incredibly entertaining for its shear level of utter crap. The Great Unbearded One wrote:
My sequels - Stargate 2. Monsters Inc. 2 on the way. More Austin Powers sequels! Small Soldiers 2. More TRON! More Ali G! South Park The Movie, Take Two. I'm not a big fan on sequels, I think some of my fav movies are infact just ones that are one hit wonders without sequels.
When it comes to the Mask, I wouldn't even care if Carrey was in it. The plot was by itself a good concept, although I doubt it would have been all that memorable without Carrey. And am I the only one who saw Duct Tape Forever? The theatre was packed when I saw it and I know it was shown in a hundred theatres at least. Red Green, if it's not my favorite TV show period, it's certainly one of my favorite comedies. It's white trash at its greatest. The Great Unbearded One wrote:
As for your other bit, I still think Mel cuts it and Mad Max 4 should be quite good, I liked Pitch Black, the cinematography in it too was just brilliant. I whole hartedly agree with the whole JP3 thing. The only decent JP movie was Spielbergs. If they beat that with JP4 then I'll quite happily eat my Homer Simpson boxers! As for ID4:2, I have nooooo idea, but if Will Smith passes on the sequel to the movie that (along with MIB and Bad Boys <Bad Boys 2 out later this year>) made his career, then it mustn't be very good.
As for your sequels. Mask 2- boo yeah baby, bring back Carrey! FF2, HELL YEAH! again, cause I loved the first one... BTTF4...hmmmm I doubt that would work now, but if Speilberg is on then it cant fail. Not sure about the Duct Tape movie, Ghostbusters 3 is too in the pipeline, Dan Ackroyd is working his ass off, and if you go to ghostbusters3.com then it takes you to Sony Pictures...so something must be happening there. Ace 3, again bring back Carrey! And Blade 3 - hell yeah. But if they do, I'd prefer it to go back to the more comic book/action of the first one instead of the darkness of the second.
