They killed it cause it got lung cancer, not from any clone-related issue.
Why was it expected?

She was rapidly aging, getting diseases reserved for sheep more than twice her age.

My mistake, it was a lung infection, and it's the arthritis that was possibly caused by runaway cell replication and aging.

But to add to this, Matilda the Australian Cloned sheep died from unknown causes only a week ago. Unlucky month for clones

There are rumors that cloned animals live shorter due to shortened telomeres, which is extra DNA at the end of a strand. Some gets lost with each replication. When it runs out, the information at the end of the strand gets lost, leading to errors, causing stuff like cancer.
