Hentai vs. Fairy Tales

I was bringing up this thought in relation to another thread.
For those who haven't read the older versions of those "Fairy Tales" we have some pretty sick stuff contained: Incest, Rape, Rape by Magical Creatures, Canabalism, Protaganists who Murder, Enslave, Rape, & Canabalize, fairly graphic torcher, graphic sex, often dealing with underaged protaganists.
And that's Just 1001 Nights, & Grimm's
So could fairy tales be as Blue or as Lemony as some of the Hentai's out there?

Quite easily if they were presented visually....for some reason anything that you have to use your own imagination for isnt usually considered as bad....

Curse my mom for having a copy of the Annotated Grimm & 1001 nights....
Where else can you find out that "Kiss" back then was slang for "Going Down" or for actual Coitus. Gives an entirely new sense to that and to "Sleeping Beuty" Cinderella & Baba Yaga gave me nightmares for years...
As for the Arabian Nights, there's enough Anal, Oral, Demon, and other varied sex basically described in there for a few pornos.

According to most biographies, H.P. Lovecraft read the Arabian Nights by himself when he was 5 or 6 years old.... THAT would explain some of the weirdness in his book....
(particularly the demon sex bit, which I can find traces of in
The Dunwich Horror and even
The Shadow Over Innsmouth... no wait, that were fishmen!!)

There's also the Greek and Roman's myths where they did almost everything that is debauched and violent.

Sinbad fucked a Harpy when he was like 17!
trust me, those victorian woodcuts for the Richard Burton translation were pretty explicit too. (Note the Richard Burton translation was most likely the version Lovecraft had access too, and it's the most perverted of the English versions)

The old version Little Red Riding Hood tale... can't get much more gruesome than a little girl eating the flesh and drinking the blood of her dead grandmother...

The trouble is fairy tales were not originally children's stories. They were told by adults to adults. Unfortunately, 19th century Europeans decided that anything dealing with magic or monsters was foolish, fit only for children or ignorant peasants. No serious adult should entertain stories about giants or magic spirits or the like, except for "classical" literature and the Bible, so the scholarly Grimm collection of folk tales was edited and mangled into "fairy tales" fit for the nursery, with no mention of dirty things like Rapunzel getting pregnant. To this day, if you want to read African or Indian or East Asian or pre-Columbian American folk tales, you go to the 390's in the library, but if you want Western European folk stories, you must go to children's literature.
