I made my set of black robes(mage robes, as opposed to a bath robe)

I have a moderately heavy black robe, cape, hood, and gloves I bought two Halloweens ago. I also have a fuzzy green bathrobe. Don't wear either much, they're just not my style. I will have robes in a few years, though, since they'll be required for my job.

I'm going to be a minister, hopefully a chaplain. Probably the weirdest occupation a denizen of this board could have, all things considered :D .

I inherited a purple trimed in silver from a friend who used to live with us. I have three staves and about 6 swords.

I actually have 8 swords myself too. Only three are actually sharp though.

Excuse me, but I have to say this. People who not only own robes, cloaks, etc. but actually wear these things where other people can see them (other than Halloween), are a big part of the reason why I am reluctant to admit to most people that I like sci fi and fantasy.

No. I just don't want to go the rest of my life without getting laid again. It is not normal to wear clothes that are 500 years out of style. You look like a jackass.

I am in complete agreement with you.

Outside of halloween and si-fi and fantasy conventions, robes just make you look weird.

The only times I've done it is when to take the piss my friends and I have "geeked it up" for certain movie opening (like the DnD movie - which sucked, but everyone went along wearing a stupid costume).

Generally our gaming group is more "normal" than most people. We'll game a little, have a barbeque and some beers, then game some more. We all have social lives other than gaming and are most definately not LARPers.

Its good to know that even as a gamer there are three groups beneath you. Trekkies, LARPers and Morris Dancers.
