Nothing new, except for this tidbit:
North Korea threatened on Tuesday to abandon the 1953 armistice that ended the Korean War

...

North Korea "will be left with no option but to take a decisive step to abandon its commitment to implement the Armistice Agreement ... and free itself from the binding force of all its provisions," said the official.

The 1950-53 Korean War ended with the armistice, not a peace treaty, leaving the countries technically in a state of war. A North Korean withdrawal from the armistice would greatly increase tensions and uncertainty along the world's most heavily armed border.

We might finally get to see what happens when you used M270's against massed infantry in the open.

This just pisses me off so much. North Koreans are among the poorest, sickest, undernourished, and oppressed people on Earth, but even so their fucking piece of shit government sees fit to constantly engage in saber-rattling and jingoism.

I say we covertly remove Kim Jong for the sake of all of the North Koreans.

I don't know why he was forcibly removed from office a long time ago. He should have been, with his policy of "starve the North Korean people while building a massive army".

I hope some of you have read an article regarding his daily life in a magazine or somewhere. Kim really does live in a world of his own.

Father-son dynasty. Good 'Ole Kim is regarded as a God by anyone with a gun. We eliminate the bastard once we know what we're doing.

Whats more intresting is the effect of Nuclear Weapons and Chemical Weapons when used togther on a semi-modern Army like SK's, ntm the American troops stationed down there

Getting hit by a two hundred kilo-ton Nuke probably sucks, Getting hit by fifty tons of Vx Nerve gas right after might suck a whole lot more

I believe that NK has threatend to abandon the 1953 Armistice in the past and on numerous occasions in an attempt to hieghten fears in order to get something they want. This is just more saber rattling from a nation that feels it will be next to be attacked right after Iraq.

Some other idiot might take his place, or worse, civil war of some kind might erupt amongst Kim's second-in-commands.

I think M270 is some kind of heavy machine gun.

Nada. M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS). Can fire 12 rockets in a shoot and scoot situation (firing and moving before counterbattery sensors can detect it). I wasn't aware they had an anti-infantry rocket for it, though. Last I'd heard they were still using the shaped-charge submunitions for use against armor.

[edit]OK, nevermind, submunition question answered by Skimmer in next post.[/edit]

Not in any way. You might consider a web search next time. This is the M270. Each launcher can cover .23 square kilometers in bomblets. A full battalion firing at once can cover over 4 square kilometers with fire. Any exposed human in that area will die, and even light armored vehicles aren't a sure thing because the bomblet have small shaped charges.

The bomblets are and always have been dual purpose. When the small shaped charge explodes the blast also throws out a hail of fragments. There was going to be a version that dropped BAT, but it got canned because of costs.
