So, I'm trying to put a trip together for my friends and I to travel to Iceland for next New Year's, and I was wondering if any of you have been there, and, if so, whether you enjoyed it or not and where you visited, etc.

Where there one weekend.
General impression it's expensive and all the water smells of sulfur.
Great nature and intresting roads. (Don't go driving wo a guide).
I where on a guided trip, the buss went up the mountain we shoot of some photos and stuff, 2-3h later a minor earthquake had destroyed a huge part of the road.
A inexpiresed driver would crash but out bussdriver just slowed down and drowe at the side of the road and passed no prob.
He stoped at the crack, I dropped a fist sized stone down the hole but I never heard it hit the bottom, The hole was DEEP.
Do try out the hot springs bath, the smell is obnoxius but it is an intresting thing to do.

Greese and Spain is cheaper for me but haven't toured Europe in many years now.
For me Asia gives me more bang for the buck and has better weather.
It was at the fall so it was relative cold, but it is the wind that is the real problem. Be sure to pack some nice windproof clothes.

Well, it'll be cold when we go there, since the trip is scheduled for late December-early January (hence the New Year's part of it 
). Sucks that it's windy.
Coming from the states, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than Spain or Greece (although I'd love to go there too) and much, much less expensive than anywhere in Asia. I've found some package deals for Iceland for $400 that include round-trip airfare, hotel accomodation, and breakfast for 3 nights/4 days. That's hella cheap.
