I'm aware of that. But anyone stupid enough to want it bought today isn't worth listening to. Better to spend the funds on the Israeli ABM system by the same name, and then lie rampantly. Then resell the Arrow's at a profit to a third party like Taiwan or better yet Japan.

Don't you have to be a Canadian citizen to get elected? Besides, they seem to be more than willing to spend little to nothing on their military and pick up mostly US and European aircraft designs.

Somehow I think if Sheppard were to be PM, Canadian military spending would skyrocket.

Ah, let me explain to you what the Avro Arrow was.

It was a totally Canadian project, that had fly-by-wire flight systems
in the 1950s, and was capable of Mach 2+ speeds.

It was basically 1970s technology in the late 50s, and what did the
Canadian government do?

The Canadian PM of the time, had all 14,000 employees of the Avro
corporation laid off, and then had all three Arrow's cut into pieces
with blowtorches and had all the blueprints DESTROYED.

To put this in perspective, it's like NASA flying Apollo 8 around the
moon, and then having all the other Saturn Vs and Apollo modules
chopped up and the blueprints destroyed!

EDIT: As a Consolation prize, the USA sold Canada about 70~
BOMARC Missiles for air defence, that were armed with nuclear
warheads, but were total pieces of shit to replace the Arrow..

stop all shipments to General Motor's/Ford/Chryslers factories
