Hello all. Believe it or not, I'm a mod at another forum. Specifically, Dave's ESL Cafe under the alias of "Circus Monkey". Lately, I've been under attack since some critics are complaining that I'm being too heavy-handed with one particular member. Perhaps I am mistaken but I would like your expert opinion and guidance. Here is but a small sample of this person's threads:

An American person in America told me that when they saw some Korean people in USA, their skin is very smooth and soft.
One reason why their skin is so good, is because of umbrellas. They use them in the hot sun, when the UV index is high.
It protects their skin.
That's one reason why their skin is so soft and smooth.
And it protects their hair. So if you notice, their hair is glossy, shiny and dense.
These days, the sun is damaging to your skin. You must use sun creams and an umbrella.

Posted: Tue Feb 18, 2003 1:19 pm Post subject: Racism in USA vs. Korea
Racism in USA has caused deaths of black people and others in US history. There is KKK and other hate groups. In Korea, some Koreans don't like foreigners. But they don't possess deep hatred toward foreigners. So Korea is a more peaceful nation in terms of racism. Koreans could make it very hard for foreigners if they had this kind of hatred. Think about the numbers of Koreans vs. foreigners. But they don't have any real hate. So racism must end in USA in order to have more peace and stability.

Waste is a big problem in many western countries, But in Korea, it's never a problem. People don't waste electric, gas and other power. When people leave a room, they turn off the lights. And they use as little power as necessary for comfort. Maybe that's why oil sellers to Korea charge Korea so much. Because Koreans use only a little oil compared with most of the world.

I agreed with Bush's statement about North Korea. Usa, China, Russia, Japan, and South Korea give so much to North Korea. They should be thanking everyone from the bottom of their hearts. Bush said he has no feelings for a "man who starves his folks." I agree. How could you live with yourself when millions of North Koreans have died of hunger(and probably lack of heat, medicine, etc.) ? Obviously Kim(NK's leader) can. It makes me sick to think about it.

Posted: Sun Feb 16, 2003 12:56 pm Post subject: Korean older women
They are very nice. They are the most peaceful women in the world. They should get more respect from everyone for the job they did. They worked very very hard when they were younger. They took care of many children. And they did manual labor many times. Sometimes their backs are in pain because of their hard work. And they didn't complain. They are too kind even now.

They are very fresh. Only from a farm, not processed. They taste better. Chickens here are much cleaner than some countries. They don't contain harmful bacteria. In USA, almost all the chicken contains dirty and harmful things and bacteria. I read this in a magazine. Many people got sick in USA from eating chicken. So now some people don't eat chicken anymore.

FYI- The amazing Acura Legend is the Daewoo Arcadia here, which makes the Arcadia(not made anymore) the best car in Korea in terms of reliability, performance and technology. The great Nissan Maxima is the Samsung SM-5. But the current SM-5 is the prior generation Maxima. Second best car in Korea. The Nissan Sentra is the Samsung SM-3 here. A very good car. Best in its class. Old Kia Sephias shared components with Mazda cars. And Hyundai Excel's shared parts with Mitsubishi Motors. Samsung was smart by cloning Japanese success stories. Their cars are expensive however. The most surprising thing however, was the discovery that Acura(Honda) and Daewoo got together to build the Arcadia. I just wonder if it was built in Japan or Korea. If built in Korea, then the engine, tranny and other components were assembled in Japan I assume. The Acura Legend was one of the best cars in the USA in case you don't know.

Posted: Thu Feb 13, 2003 12:48 pm Post subject: Contracts

Many foreigners sign contracts to teach. But they didn't read the entire contract. You should contact a lawyer to determine if there is anything missing or strange in the contract. Some contracts contain loopholes, whereby the school is correct and the foreigner is wrong. So, you should never sign a contract without discussing every item in the conract with the school and lawyer. And discuss every item not in the contract with the school and lawyer. Then, there should be no problem. Korean contracts are very flexible. Negotiation is possible to accomodate foreigners needs sometimes.

Posted: Tue Feb 11, 2003 1:17 pm Post subject: Why do foreigners teach English in Korea?

Some foreigners teach English in Korea because they can't find teaching job in USA. I heard that. And I am not sure of other reasons. Maybe the reason is they like Korean culture . It can't be for the salary. The salary for foreign teachers in Korea is much lower than a foreigner's country salaries. Also, USA is safer regarding war. No country can ever really hurt the USA. But many countries could seriously damage South Korea. So I wonder what are the reasons. I think some foreigners are a novelty to Koreans. Because there are not many here. Many Koreans wonder why foreigners teach here. I thought about it many times.

Posted: Tue Feb 04, 2003 1:21 pm Post subject: I'll miss Kim Dae-jung
He was a great leader and still is. He won many awards, including Nobel Prize. He developed the Sunshine policy involving North Korea. Now they are building a railroad connection between the 2 Koreas for the first time. He improved the economy of Korean over his term. Even though the world economy including USA, Japan, Europe has fallen terribly, South Korea has held steady and risen. He is friendly towards other countries and open to ideas. The new president might not be as good. Maybe.
