Subtle but noticeable reactions to terrorism.

I decided to deposit a check at my bank this evening. I do my banking with a credit union that is located on the premises of the Lockheed Missiles and Space plant in Sunnyvale.

Recenty, LMT installed a guard shack next to one of the main roads into the site. It is manned on what appears to be random schedule. You are stopped and expected to show your Lockheed ID or in my case a CA drivers license and declare my destination. While this is not going to stop a truck bomb, it is a minor step in keeping an eye out for people casing the place or snooping around where they should not be. It did surprise me a little bit the post was manned at 8:30pm.

The next thing I noticed as I was at the ATM was the 129th Recce Wing which is located across the street from my bank. In the day time you cant see inside the buildings because they have the smoked/tinted glass windows common to buildings all around Silicon Valley. However, because I was there at night, I could see inside since some internal lights were on. All the windows are taped with duct tape in the manner one would do when expecting heavy winds or more likely and explosion.

Just wanted to share this experience, I realize for those of you on the East Coast its probably pretty minor compared to what you might see.
