Dreams

Okay, I think many people have posted something about dreams. Strange thing is, I had no dreams since I was in high school to just recently. Crazy. Well, last night, hmm, more like this morning I had a dream. This is how it goes. It was brief too.
First off, I wake up, lying in bed. This is were it's sorta out of place, my computer über stand is at the head board of my bed. In reality, it's next to my bed. Okay, but this is were it is fucking strange. I have no idea what this might mean. There was a fucking spider web right above my head. It was attached to the stand and to my bed. On it were like ten fucking grandaddy long legs, and a few black widows. Just building a god damn web. That's all that happened in it though. It just seemed like I woke up to see it, then I actually woke up. Strangest shit man.

Nightmares - Now, I am used to nightmares. I have them frequently, perhaps twice a month. Not the ones that are a little scary, but the ones that wake you up because you’re so scared. The more common one is where I’m in my room, it’s night, and there’s a person at the foot of my bed, a person cloaked in shadows causing such fear that I am unable to move. I know it’s a dream while I have it, but I don’t control it, I’m frozen, unable to move, disconnected from my body. Occasionally that one is followed or mixed with the dead; I’ve rolled over in the arms of a beautiful women, only I open my eyes, and she’s months old dead, or dead bodies animated approach me while I am paralyzed, and their dead fingers wrap around my neck. I’ve walked down hallways in my house with my neck broken and me staring at ceiling, but I’m still aware. There are the occasional dreams about fire, too, me wandering through my church and everything is burning, people burning but still living, you can see their charred bones set in their face, and they talk to you. Others, I’ve crawled through a tunnel a mile long, with thousands of red hot heated coils, burning my flesh as I crawl upwards.
This is what I’m used to for dreams. The one I had over the last few hours was worse.
Now, as in cases for most dreams, it jumps from scene to scene, so it won’t have the coherency of a post and perhaps will lose much of its horror, but this dream was the worst I ever had.
It starts in my room, not unsurprisingly, most of them do. There may have been conversation, but it turns out that some rat things are allowed to pass through my room, out of a hole in the floor, under my desk, and into a hole on the opposite wall. They are perhaps a foot long, like a guinea pig, but with claws and teeth of less friendly animals. One of them is 2 ft long; I remember stroking his fur when he came over. Perfectly normal dream, I even move some stuff out from under my desk so they can move through. Thousands do.
Scene change, I’m in a store with some friends, looking around, seeing an increasing number of people in outfits I’m envious of. This scene isn’t scary, really, just a twist on IRL, but I’ll come back to the building later. It’s similar to Spencer’s, all sorts of weird things being sold, I see some people in reds and blacks, Goths and punks, very nice costumes. Talk with them, try to find out who they are so I can hang out with them. Something always comes up before I can get their names and numbers, but no matter. One of them steals something of mine, I run through the streets, totally normal city, catch up with him, get the thing, another conversation, there’s a crowd of people on the opposite street waiting for the bus, looking like their dressed for a party. I ask, they are, but a bus leaves with them before I can find out who they are.
Now the scary bits begin. Some people who live to annoy will say it’s not really scary, but I was in the dream, and it scared the hell out of me. Sorries if my language skills don’t get it across.
So I’m back at the store, and I find a door near the back. The store is empty, and there is a blueish glow like refrigeration around the door, leading to stairs. Perhaps the people came up the stairs, perhaps I went down, the memory is vague. They are scientist types, in full body suits, and I learn a plague has gotten loose. Not a natural one, of course, one of the ones that comes out of labs and is impossible to stop.
I end up at a mansion, near the top of some mountainside. I think the store turned into it, the scientists vanished, and another guy shows up. Typical action hero, lots of muscles. We start barricading the house, because plagues aren’t the only thing out there now, and we get to the last door, the front door now, but what was once the one that led to the stairs, he opens it to check is anyone’s coming up, and this silver flying snake with a human head is there, and sends a flash of light. The hero turns to a rapidly dispersing cloud of blood.
I wake up in a hospital like place, on a bed, on my side, looking at a wall an inch from my eyes. That scene description doesn’t qualify as scary, but it was. I knew there was nothing I could do to leave, that I was trapped, helpless. I didn’t have to look around to know there were other people in the room, but I knew there were two or three, packed together, alive and well.
I don’t remember the scene where I learned what this place was, but I can tell you what I learned. Basically, there was a person who controlled this place, had complete domination over the couple hundred people here. You were not allowed out of your rooms, and those who spoke out vanished. 1984 in white.
Somehow, the people in my room and I got out, looking for a messiah figure. I remember thinking it was worse then some dreams I’ve had, such as the ones in the first paragraph. What made those horrific was that you knew it was a dream and you couldn’t escape – this one you knew you were outside dreams, a la reality, and thus could never wake up.
The hallway was white, white floors, walls, ceiling, perhaps 12 ft wide and tall. There were dozens of steel doors, with glass so you could look inside, with those fireproof wiring, and we walked down the hallway, and looked inside. The first few were ok, people lying on their beds, unaware, like we were. The later ones. . . They had pictures of people I knew IRL, nice people, on the frame of the window, and you could compare how they looked, then and now. One chick, a little overweight, nice girl, was curled up against the far wall of her room, it was 5 by 5 by 8, a dark red room, you could see her body, looking like she had been in a Nazi concentration camp, and her room was now frigerated. Her blue veins showed through her tightened red skin.
Each door was like that – the picture of people I knew, and inside, they had died horrifically. The memory of individual cases is fading, now, but at the time I saw each and every one of dozens of cases. Some looked like plague victims, while some looked beaten to death. Near the end on the left, I remember, was a half completed beehive, three or four of them, and I knew they had been built out of living heads. At the end of the hallway, after an endless, horrifying walk, we found the person we were looking for, in a room like our own, the door open, and him lying on his bed. He turned over, and blood was running from his eyes and face. He was dead as well, and we heard the voice of the one who had put all of us here, and turned around, and there he was. I don’t remember his face, but the three people with me were herded like sheep to wherever he wanted them to go. I sprinted away, down the hallway of horrors, and his voice called after me. A brace of people stepped out of a side hallway, holding strange styles of guns, and I thought at last, I get to die. . . but the beams hit me, and I froze, and I knew I would never leave this place.
I woke up, or thought I did, but then I heard the scratching of those rats, passing through the walls of my room, still running in an endless trail on the floor.
-shrugs- I wish I could say that was the entirety of it, but it has faded a great deal, now.

I have two reoccuring dreams I can recall right now, but I'm sure I have three. In one I help in various battles between the Americans and British in the Revolutionary war. Finally, my men and I are cornered on some weird wooden construct hanging off a cliff. I sit on a bench and fall asleep in the dream to wake up in real live.
The other one is about plain black dots fighting a war and there's one dot in the middle of a field screaming. A Conestoga wagon is superimposed on the whole thing.

Actually, you have been dreaming since high school: you simply don't remember doing it. Think about it this way: how many of your meals since high school do you remember clearly? How clearly do you remember having brushed your teeth in the morning later on in the day? Similarly, you do have dreams... you've simply forgotten all about them by the time you get out of bed and get started on your day. If you make an effort to recall what you've been dreaming about (maybe by keeping a journal by your bed to write them down) you'll find that you remember dreaming more frequently, and that the dreams are more vivid. As to what they mean... who knows? I once had a dream where I was part of this SWAT-style kill team, trying to locate some sort of parasitic creatures that could be differentiated from humans by their lower body temperature. We were in the middle of a full-scale panic in this town trying to locate and terminate the infested people. One of them ripped my rifle right out of my hands, knocked the thermo-imager goggles off my face, and was kneeling on my chest with his face crawling with some sort of worms getting ready to infest me when I woke up. I had also watched Blade 2 that night... go figure.

The only dreams I have is the one where I fall, and I always wake up sweating. I have that dream usually about 3-4 nights a week.

I get that one too... whenever it comes, the sensation is complete and utter terror, and I'm never sure that I'm actually awake when I do wake up from it. I couldn't say it's a person: it's some shadowy figure, looking like black smoke or sometimes like flowing ink. When I quit smoking, it showed up with a lit cigarette and was dropping burning ashes on my legs while I lay there helpless. Very disconcerting.

Meh... I remember I always had the same dream if I listened to this one relaxation tape my mom had bought for me... the dream was quite disturbing, in that it was rather surreal, but especially because in the dream, my hands were EXTREMELY heavy and bulky for some reason... and when I woke up, they still felt like they did in the dream, for like ten minutes afterwards.

This is the only recent dream of mine that I remember:
I'm on a hill at my school. I'm the commander of an army of rat men. I have to defend the hill against humans who want us dead. Suddenly they shoot arrows at us. I see some of my soldiers rushing at them with spears. I hear a woman's voice in my head giving me tactical advice. It should be important, almost divine revelation. Only the advice makes no sense. This repeats over and over again. Battle on the hill. Humans want us out. We have to kill them all. They're shooting. Repeat endlessly.
A much older dream from my childhood really freaked me out back then. I still remember it.
I'm sleeping in the living room under the green blanket. It is dark, lit faintly by a light on elsewhere in the house. I sit up. Then I see that protrusions are forming from it. They are shaped like big hands. They wave about slowly. They say in a deep, droning voice "Food. Food. We need food. Food. Your body needs food. Food."

I had a truly bizarre dream recently. I think I can start my own religious cult with it.
I'm outside of my body, spectating. I'm sound asleep; nothing in the world could wake me up. Suddenly, a group of tiny little beings sneak under my door. They look vaguely human, but I really can't tell. They climb up onto my bed, and onto my chest. They vaporize, and everything goes black. I wake up. The little men are gone. Within a few minutes, I begin to hear voices in my head. I am told that my body is currently being inhabited by tiny alien beings. This race of aliens is planning to take over the Earth by taking over the bodies of its people and enslaving them. I was to be the first; however, my will was too strong, and the aliens were not able to take control of my body, nor can they leave it without dying themselves, due to their now permanent biological dependence on me. To live, they must coexist with me, within my body. They are so impressed with my resistance, however, that they choose to impart to me knowledge of their civilization, and how to halt their imminent invasion. I am their master, I decide whether they live or die. This is when I wake up.
So, what do you think? I don't think it's anymore ridiculous than some of those cults out there, and I think I could make some pretty good money teaching people how to ward off the alien beings that have inhabited their bodies. I think I'll call the aliens "the Sefiron'tar" and change my name to "Zal'quan."

Believe it or not, I may not be able to recall every single dream, but I can easily recall dreams I have had since I was a kid. Sure I might and not remember, but my memory has this really weird way of working.

The only recurring dreams I have are about the girl I like at the time (get your head out of the gutter - just normal school days, more or less).

My dreams tend to center around a theme of not being able to reach a paticular goal, or having loved ones leave me. I also sometimes have dreams where I try to run from an enemy (the last time is was terrorists ) and I cant run fast enough.

Here's one for you. Before I hit my 'black hole' of dreams, I came across something really bizarre. I talked to one other person who said the same thing. At some point I told myself I should be able to control my dream. When, on only a few occasions did I manage this, literally gain consciouness to what was happening. Lots of comedy man, I was picking on everyone. Running, flying. It fucking rocked. I don't care how psycho you people think I am, I somehow did it. I know somebody else on this board has too. If I could ever do it agian, damn.

I have some of the most fucked up dreams in the world. Ussually after seeing a Jurrasic Park I'll have a dino nightmare, where I, for some reason, lack the ability to run. Ofcourse after I while I get use to them, and find other methods to avoid the dinos, after playing some turok and seeing JP3 I shot some with a shotgun, I've jumped off ledges to avoid getting eaten. One time I took and break, magicly flew into the air and to a near by island, bought some cottage cheese, and returned, the cottage cheese misteriously disappears.
Another one I have fucked up dream about a lot are the Xenomorphs. In my childhood I can remember 2 disticint ones. One where Ripley was in the power lifter thing, and I was in a blue one, but it had this big fucking gun on it and some sort of R2-D2 link thing, I was opening the door, it burst open out pops and I blast it with my gun, woke up afterwards, probly was showered in acid. The other one was I went into the xenomorph hive with Ren and Stimpy, after stimpy paid admission with hair balls we got in and the xenos were all set up like it was a school, I walk into one, walke up to the teacher, it turns around with a head full of broccili and i scream and run off. Haven't had any of those in a while.
Yet another is Jason Voorhees, don't know why, but just him. Usually he chases me around killing people I run pass(I swear to god he killed almost the exact copy of the producers that made Police Cops on the simpsons, but no animated, with a garden spade. Then I get the weird ones too. One where after he chases me for a while we're abducted by aliens and they disect him and put him in a glass tube, and then he saves me by hacking through the wires hooked up to him in the tube teleports me away and then blows up the UFO. Another wierd one was when, after killing everyone at a Christmas party of friends of my dad, he gives up the killing business and becomes my bus driver.
I also have mild zombie ones, I think their mostly Resident Evil influenced, again its just the can't run syndrome, nothing really wierd.
A new one though was, recently I was really sick, I had a sore throut and a stuffy nose, so I couldn't breath through my nose, and if I breathed through my mouth my sore throut would get worse, the nights were hell, I didn't get a full nights rest for 5 days. But during that long painful nights I had a Half-Life dream, were I was just running around the compound and couldn't get out, and I couldn't wake up, I had several hours of this, I did wake up a couple of times, but when I went back to sleep I went back to it. It was fucking torture.
I have more but those are the most common ones.

The last nightmare I had awas about a week ago. I hadn't seen the Exorcist in about a year so it struck me as odd the I would dream about it. In my dream I was a third priest conducting the exorcism on the young girl. I watched the whole spiel, her levitating the bad, speaking backwords, playing evil mindtricks and revealing dirty little secrets. This time while the young priest left the room I stayed with the older priest. The young girl broke free of her bonds and lept at the old priest...
Then I woke up so scared I went and got a glas of water and finished watching some old movie on TV before I fell asleep.
Well the dream continued. The young girl attacked the older priest. In a viscious display of pure anger and malevonce the girl literally tore the old man to pieces. She hit me, knocking me to a corner when the younger priest charged at the girl. As in the movie the demon entered the priest and he jumped out the window killing himself, but that didn't stop the demon. It raged and howled in the cold night and rushed to the window. It approached me stating that though we had won, that I would meet it again and it faded away, screaming and howling as it left.
Then I woke up... minutes before my alarm went off. As I was lying in my room recalling the dream, I thought waking up and getting somethign to drink was a part of the dream until I noticed the glass sitting on my night stand. I just thought it was weird that my dream would continue right where it had left off after waking up.

What I'm curious about is re-occuring dreams. more recently, I had a dream that I know had aspects in it from a dream that I'd had years ago, when I was involved with someone. But there was no prompting for me to think about this person. It has been burried with time, and nothing would cause me to think about her. Very weird though. To have the same/simliar dream years later, without any prompting. I hadn't even thought about that girl since god knows when.
And recently, I've been having lots of dreams involving the woman I'm obessesed with. The love of my life. WWE's Lita. But something always happens IRL and I wake up at inopertune times. Like when we're starting to kiss or something. Most of them lately seem to be like we've been dating for a long time, and we're in strange places, doing strange things. Lots of my friends around. Trying to win contests or something. I dunno. Random.

Im told it's a common one - being just awake enough to know your awake, but not control your body, cuz it's still asleep.
creeps the hell out of me tho. its scared me awake more then once.

I've gotten this paralysis dream myself many a time. But more often than not, it involves not a dark shadowed figure...it involves not a figure at all, or aliens...like I feel or see a beam of light hit me, and then I can't move. I know it's a dream, and I know I'm partially awake, but I can't wake myself up all the way. The worst part is, I try to will myself to talk in my sleep, or move a limb or something so I make a noise or knock something over on the dresser to wake myself...and I can't...
I think that's my only fear, is to be abuducted and powerless to defend myself against something that is more technologically advanced than I am. I have a strange habbit of always sleeping with my katana righ next to me. It terrified me when I was younger. I think I saw "Fire in the Sky" when I was too young or something.
I wonder why so many people have this same dream?

paralysis thing, stated above. the shadowy figure- Im not sure. in my dream, he usually has religious undertones, not tech.
