2100 kicks ass!

I have played lots of 'strategy' games (i.e. tactical games with resource management) & none recently have come close to the level of excellence shown several years ago by Warzone 2100.
Good points about Warzone 2100…
Tanks rule who gives a shit about infantry! However when infantry do appear they are as highly advanced cyborg warriors that are quicker than tanks & as resistant to damage as medium/light tanks.
Artillery is everywhere & plentiful. When I want to fight someone I want to have an option between blowing the shit out of the enemy scum from miles away or personally handing their burnt arses to them ‘close quarters’ style.
Warzone gives me this option along with huge range & counter battery sensors & coordinated fire vehicles not C&C’s 8 square range peashooters!
Designs! I don’t want to choose between a jeep & a heavy tank like in C&C I want options solider!
That means deciding between sticking a powerful anti tank weapon on a cheap buggy or a huge heavy behemoth type vehicle or a hover tank with powerful sensor’s or bunker-busters (long range rockets to deal with pesky defenses but shit on anything else) & never mind the potential aircraft armaments!
Control! I want to tell my troops to be cowardly in some situations (attack at long range, retreat at medium damage, hold position) or be Rambo in others (attack at short or optimum range, never retreat & pursue broken enemies). This is great.
Difficulty, I don’t want to fight a bunch of pussies who’ll come at me 6 riflemen at a time! I want to be in a duel to the death with an enemy protected by horrendous defences, manned by enormous quantities of highly advanced units whilst under pressure from a stupidly difficult deadline (yes sir I’ll take Stalingrad in a week)!
This game is hard make no mistake plus you can go back & make things even more difficult for yourself (for instance in the first campaign, Alpha 7 I think, you are given a mission to reconnaissance an enormous base. I instead attempted to destroy it in 20 odd minutes & succeeded in gutting it, making the second half of the mission a walkover)
Bad points…
No sequel.
The wreckage of buildings & units isn’t left behind a.k.a Total annihilation.
