Well, the people who came up with the ideas for these things are obviously very disconnected from common sense and the real world.
Stuff like this has happened so much, that's it's not even remotely shocking or surprising anymore. It's like we expect or know that it's inevitable that someone with bad taste (and one of life's laws states that there will always be at least one of these folks) will do something like this.
Sad.

well, they could have waited on it for at least a few years, you know, until the whole thing became history rather than recent news. Also, it reeks of a scam, and what struck me as odd was the "Historic" society. Isn't it the HISTORICAL Society?

Its a US Company minting coins in Liberia, so these dollar coins are legal tender, but they aren't american currency its Liberian! they're the same guy who released all of those ten dollar coins with all the presidents on them and tried to get interest by selling Gore and Bush ones during the election.
