I seem to recall the Zillion video game and anime series being based on a toy gun (this was years ago in Japan).

GI JOE action figure came first, in the 1960's, I believe, then later, when the new cartoon came out in the 1980's, they new line of smaller toys was created to go with it.
Transformers and the toys came out within a year of each other. Planned production, IMHO.
Same with HeMan and SheRa, TeenageMutant NinjaTurtles, and other 80's cartoons.

i supposse i'm really wondering which was usually the chicken and which was the egg?
i always thought that in the forties and fifties the show spawned the toys and merchandise.

Close, Lady. GI Joe was the 50's, maybe even the late 40's. My brother's had them. (and they are 17 and 10 years older than me)
But, since we're on this train of thought... how many started as comics or became comics afterwards. TMNT is one of the few "started as" that I can think of.

Brickfilms.com is a site for stop-motion Lego animations...
It's funny what people do with Legos.
