This a good, cheap joystick? (stores in Iowa suck, btw)

I finally found IL-2 Sturmovik in my local Best Buy. Yay.

Good news: It's $20.00. My wallet is saved. And free to buy other games and shit.

Bad news: My current stick (that I only use for Crimson Skies, X-Wing Alliance, and such) fucking looks like THIS:

I fucking kid you not.

So as an Iowan, not only am I in need of a decent, well-priced joystick from this decade, but of course it's Cedar fucking Rapids over here, so as far as the local stores go, this one seemed like my best, all-around choice:

IGN review of Saitek Cyborg 3D Force

PC Magazine review of Saitek Cyborg 3D Force

Well, considering I tried the display one out, made sure the stick wasn't loose, and was pretty happy with how much force it took to move it around, didn't have a problem with the trigger, and really would prefer an ambidextrous design like this one (I could handle a right-hand only stick, but it'd feel awkward and might affect my performance). I was almost going to buy it, but i wanted to check a few reviews and get the board's opinion (besides, I've been too fucking busy this week to play it even if I got it on Tuesday).

So, what's your fucking $.02, peeps? :)

I've always been quite happy with the Sidewinder line, my 5 year old 3D Pro still runs great.

Believe it or not, Microshit actually makes good game controllers.

Get 'em online.

I do have a couple of off brand selections, but that will wait until I get home.

Hey, the local Best Buy has a IL-2 Sturmovik for only $20.00, Utsano! You should head down there!

EDIT: Your brother thinks that my humor is too subtle for you. So this is just to tell you that I was joking. :P

Wingman 3D Extreme. I've had it forever, and I can never seem to go wrong with Logitech. I tried the force feedback stick once, and for some reason, it doesn't have spring loaded stick, so that it goes back to center if you let go. Sucks majorly if you don't have the bastard plugged in. But my standard one is great. Love it. If you live in a rural area, you might want to check online like Amazon.com.

The Saitek Cyborg 3D Force is my current joystick, its pretty good but if you are getting this keep track on the motor it runs hot. In the mean while I'm saving up for this baby http://us.thrustmaster.com/products/loo ... skin=Hotas,
good luck Utsanomiko.

Nice to see that you can't read, Plutonium...

Utsanomiko said that the game he want's is $20, and that that joystick is the only one we've really had for years.

Want something cheap? Logitech Wingman Attack, no rudder movement, but, that is all it lacks. USB Joystick ~$10 at Best Buy here in TN. Good price for a good basic 6 button w/ throttle joystick.

You're just lucky you are in Cedar Rapids. Up near Mason City there isn't anything until you go north to Minneapolis or South to Des Moines (preferably South to St Louis if you have the time)

Skipping the Quad Cities I take it? :) Then again, it's not much of a skip.

So, those of you shopping in Cedar Rapids, is there a Best Buy in Cedar Rapids or are you going to Coralville?

There's one in both.

Going to Coralville to get to Best Buy from CR would be a total waste of time.

I fly the Saitek X36 Flight Control System. With this baby I can play a whole mission of Falcon 4.0 without ever touching the keyboard.

Thanks. It's been ages since I've been to CR and I see that big mall in Coralville on the way to the airport so considering how close together (in Western US terms) I had wondered if CR had it's own Best Buy or not.

I have a Logitech WingMan w/ Force Feedback, it's nice [gift]. I have heard some reports that they are unreliable, though.

Microsoft has some excellent ones as well, Saitek is decent.

Does Gravis make joysticks anymore? I've killed thousands of A-Wings with my trusty old Advanced Gravis.
