I used to go to Lazerquest but that got a bit too expensive at 6 bucks a round.

You bought the gear? I guess if you want to play a lot elsewhere it would make sense.

Fuck I knew that probly happened, I clicked submit and the page freaked out before the message thingy came up saying my post had been submitted.
*Edit* I only see one of the threads on my screen every time I reload. This has happened before to me but never on a new topic.
Back to the topic tho, Its not Lazerquest i'm talking about. Im talking the equipment you usedta could get at Wal Mart and Target and Toys R Us. You bought a pair of guns with targets you strapped to your chest. then you got to run around the yard shooting at each other witout having to worry about other people "God moding" and dodging every invis-dible bullet.
Basically you shelled out a few bucks and played as much as you want rather than putting out $7 for a mediocre mall experience.

Lazer Tag? From Worlds of Wonder (same company that released Teddy Ruxpin), released around mid 80's?
I still have my gear. In fact, I've got 2 starlytes (the black pistols), 2 star sensors, and the big white rifle. They're all in perfect working condition (minus batteries, of course).
Yeah, my friends and I used to play the shit out of that game. Night time battles were the best...unless you were using that rifle! I knew some people that actually painted theirs black!
EDIT:
HERE is a cool site dedicated to Lazer Tag!

there´s no such thing in germany because the officials think that when you play lazer tag you turn into a amuk running, mass murdering monster.
idiots.
anyways, on the student exchange program back in school we went to england and had enormous amounts of fun shooting each other in megazone in chelmsford.
3 pounds back then

Used to play using tricked out gear (soldering irons + much more wiring, batteries and better IR devices = WAY better range and "accuracy") in state forests or on friends farms. 24 hour CTF games over 20 square kilometres rock.

I love Laser Tag, but the local Lazer Works charges $8 a game.

Well, I never had the shit when I was a kid. However, my cousin, a few friends and myself all bought some about three years ago because some of them couldn't play paintball. That and with a big school yard behind my house, it was easier to grab gear and play at night. It was pretty damn bitchin. Camo gear, masks, goggles, ambushes. Fucking rocked. We had a place called Q-Zar here in town. It had been here for years, but it wasn't until the last year of it's existence (which was four years ago) I went to play. It was cool in some respects, fucking sucked in others. First off, it was foggy inside, big pillars, walls that felt like they came out of a 3D shooter, and the giant command module at either side. The downs. Well, it was growing unpopular by that time, so there wasn't ever too many people. THose that showed up a lot of the times were experts, and could use the reflective walls to kick your ass. Or kids and stupid parents crowding camping spots when half thier team charged in. One rule I never saw enforced was the no running rule. That was a +

Oh, Laser Tag is awesome. I have always loved playing. Save up twenty or thirty bucks and you can have a fun evening with a bunch of your buddies at the place.

One thing that never fails to annoy me in any Laserquest Place is the tiny kids who rack up the insane kill amounts!
How? Simply they latch onto somone and simply follow your around until your vest powers back up agian and you can be shot
They finaly charged it right before I left so instead of the Tradtional six second "out" it was six seconds "out" but only five seconds "out" for the gun itself so the little kids went down hard

I've tried it before, and it is quite neat. I believe I got those vests and guns, but they never seemed to work. There's a party place near where I live that has it, but I don't know the cost.

I used to play allot. But most of my friends currently prefer to just shoot each other with air rifles.

I played at Q-Zar and Mystery Fun House. I was known for being a sniper player. Pit me against a charge and I was screwed. Let me find someplace with a tiny bit of cover and a shooting hole, and someone to make sure nobody sneaks up on me, and I can pick off runners from across the arena.
At Q-Zar I once racked up 12 "kills" in 20 seconds when three people snuck into our base while I was watching it. I just popped each of them, waited six seconds, popped them each again, then sat for six more and popped them a third time. Idiots never even saw me.
At Mystery Fun House I was being chased by some little kid who could run but was only a mediocre shot. After a full lap around the outside of the arena (during which time I saw NO teammates who weren't involved in a firefight), I fired a single shot over my shoulder. Hearing a yelp behind me, I looked over my shoulder and realized I'd nailed the kid with that single shot (after not shooting for the whole lap because I was trying to get away from the little bugger). Two of my teammates (one who had seen the Q-Zar episode) saw that shot, and I became known for pulling off the highly improbable. One-on-one fair fight, I'm screwed. Four-on-one or one-on-one at a disadvantage, I become untouchable and can't miss. Works for paintball too.

But... it looks like it was designed in the 70s... and its ugly, it manages to be black and sleakly ugley, thats pretty damn hard to do mind you

I used to play it, prefer paintballing though.
If you can't slice limbs off or explode heads then the laser isn't powerful enough.

Damn you.
I've got a Starlyte that doesn't work (which I tried to repair, which almost certainly broke it more), a sensor, the harness/holster, the vest/holster, and the ballcap sensor (damned uncomfortable to wear). A friend had the bulky helmet sensor, a Starlyte, sensor, and the vest/holster. We both wanted the white rifle, but never did get it. After he moved to Texas, I never used the hardware again.
With newer technology, LazerTag could be pretty damned nice, but all the knock-offs I've seen have been pretty bad. The one Laser tag arcade that used to be near us had pretty nice hardware, but the vest was a pain in the ass.
The worst laser tag arcade I ever tried was the one in the Funplex in Seattle. Lame red-light 'laser' guns that were shaped more like hose attachments and had a spot diameter of a foot at 10 feet, cramped room, stupid barriers...

Fuck that, if there are limbs, heads or debires of them left after you shoot its not powerful enough.

Fine.
I'll order you the charged particle beam rifle with a backpack full of deuterium and a micro-fusion reactor. Have fun and mind you don't vape all of the state.
