AoL Movie Awards

AoL just had a thing to vote for movie stuff. Of course yours truely jumped in there. I should have jotted down all the selections. Fuck it. Here are mine.

*note* In best scene I chose Yoda vs Dooku due to the utter lack of any Star Wars nominations throughout the entire ballot. It was up against the split peronality of Gollum. Well, I chose Lord of the Rings about three times already. So, with that being the ONLY Star Wars choice, I went with it. Where as I believe the Yoda vs Dooku scene was more novel than anything else, and should really be something along the lines of Anakin and Padme. We can't win em all I guess.

Your voting selections:

Best Picture: 'Spider-Man'

Best Actor: Viggo Mortensen, 'The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers'

Best Actress: No Vote

Best Supporting Actor: Orlando Bloom, 'The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers'

Best Supporting Actress: Miranda Otto, 'The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers'

Best Director: Peter Jackson, 'The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers'

Hottest Kiss: Kirsten Dunst/Tobey Maguire, 'Spider-Man'

Most Unforgettable Scene: Yoda Faces Off Against Count Dooku, 'Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones'

Best Line: "Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words, 'With great power comes great responsibility.' This is my gift, my curse. Who am I? I'm Spider-Man." -- Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) in 'Spider-Man'

Best Song: 'Hero' -- Chad Kroeger, 'Spider-Man'

Spiderman was not better than Two Towers. Incidentally, Gollum deserves best supporting actor. Yeah, Orlando Bloom is cool and causes girls to wet their knickers, but Gollum was spectacular.

Gollum vs Yoda is a tough fucking choice. Spiderman over Two Towers. For me it was. For many reasons I can state later. However, I don't think TTT was on the ballot for best picture. In fact I'm almost positive it wasn't.

Gollum should have been up there for something.

Or should it be Andy Serkis?

It was. Where I chose Yoda vs Dooku. That's what I was saying, the Gollum scene was up against it. But that was the only Star Wars anything on the entire ballot. I had already voted TTT three times elsewhere. Spider Man too. So Star Wars got the vote.

I know. But I personally think it should have been up there and gotten an award.

I'm still hacked that Andy Serkis wasn't nominated for an Oscar. He did all the acting, they merely put a CG over his body. Everything Gollum does he did.

The Dark, they didn't nominate Serkis for Gollum for the same reason they didn't nominate Robin Williams for the Genie in the original Aladdin- if an actor only does voice acting, he's not nominated.

Yeah, I know it could have been stretched to include Serkis as well, given that he did act out Gollum's movements, but Hollywood will never go out of it's way to reward independent foreign films unless they're romantic/artsy crap.
