Well, I'm convinced.

Some of the Nibiru researchers also cite the prophecies of Edgar Cayce who predicted that we would soon suffer monumental Earth changes and a pole shift, even though he did not attribute them to anything as specific as a visiting planet. And, of course, the much-analyzed Mayan calendar is said to set the "end of world" in December, 2012.
Will someone tell me why this calendar is taken so seriously by so many people? The Mayans may have been great astronomers but that doesn't mean they never churned out bullshit.

I don't know why people believe this stuff. It just blows my mind.

Don't worry, my superlasers on the moon will protect us. I mean, I'm sure something will protect us.

The fire-breathing dragon in my garage can protect us all.

Yeah, but it's an invisible, non-corporeal dragon that shoots flame only when it wants to. You can't beat that.

Hmm. ::Looks through site.::

Pardon me while I fall over, roll on the floor, and laugh my fuckin' ass off.

ROFLMFAO!

Stichin is one of those nutcases. His theories about what went on in the ancient world hold about as much water as a tin can used as target practice. It's neat science fiction/fantasy, but it bears no particular relationship to reality. If there was a planet big enough to interact substantially with Earth, and if it did so in the past, chances are, the interaction would've ejected the planet, and possibly Earth as well, from the solar system. And here they go loosely interpreting the latest round of "Planet X" furor to fit their story, even though 'Planet X' is likely a really big KBO orbiting out on the edge of the Kuiper Belt.

Here are some interesting quotes I've dug up:
Raving lunatic orbital mind control frisbee conspiracy nuts. wrote: Some of the Nibiru researchers also cite the prophecies of Edgar Cayce who predicted that we would soon suffer monumental Earth changes and a pole shift, even though he did not attribute them to anything as specific as a visiting planet. Here, we see them quoting a psychic of all things. A prophesizing one no-less. This should set the BS alarms screaming. And bear in mind that while the Mayans knew quite a bit about mathematics and astronomy, they also lived in a culture thoroughly steeped in mysticism. And the 2012 date just marks the end of the Mayan calendar. We don't know enough about them to really have any clue what significance that had to them.
Raving lunatic orbital mind control frisbee conspiracy nuts. wrote: Astronomers and other scientists who would seem to be in a position to know such things have made no announcements about the approach of any planet-sized body. Apparently, they have not detected anything of the kind. Those who believe Nibiru is approaching, however, say that scientists do know all about it and are just covering it up.
Perhaps the forgot the extensive network of amateur astronomers who scan the skies night after night, looking to discover new comets or asteroids.

Hmmm. Took the poll associated with that story. Here were the results:

Do you think Nibiru is approaching?

Yes, I think it's coming soon. (1319)
43%

Yes, but in the distant future. (335)
11%

No, it's all nonsense. (760)
25%

Not sure. (588)
19%

Total Votes: 3002

I feel rather depressed all of a sudden. 54% of the poll participants apparently believe that there was a 12th planet that caused the Flood of the Bible.

Then again, there is that asteroid... *shrugs*
