On Monday I got stuck in dead stop traffic about a mile or 2 before the Narrows thanks to 3 idiots playing bumper cars on the bridge, but it was probably good I was stopped when this happened: on the other side of the freeway I saw a brown Ford Exploder go down the onramp, go about 1/3 mile after entering the freeway proper, stop, then start backing up the way he came, IN THE FREEWAY LANE!!!, and he wasn't going slow either, he was pulling a good deal of freeway speed backward (30-40mph I think by the look of it). This "smart" person not only was backing up in the freeway lane, but he topped it by backing up the onramp all the way to the start of it, causing the cars using it properly to swerve onto the shoulder to avoid him... Only line of reasoning I can think of that the guy was using for this is: "If I'm backing up, my car is facing the right way, so I can't get in trouble for going the wrong way if I'm facing the right way."

If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have beleived it, I thought that kind of shit only happened in Glasgow on Saturdays?!

This is Washington, you get a license here and you automatically can legally do 10-15 over limit, you automatically can no longer drive when it's sunny, rainy, icy road, windy, foggy, and least of all snowing, you also can no longer drive in a straight line or make sane decisions when driving, you also end up with a cellphone grafted to your ear and a cup of Starbuck's espresso in the spare hand, which leaves you with a knee to hold the newspaper or map, and the other one to keep the steering wheel somewhat straight. (some may be using a brick to aid in accelleration ) Oh and in Tacoma, a red light means 3 more. (didn't beleive my friend until I encountered this, people behind you get real pissy when you actually pay attention to the lights)

That is a particularly stupid example...if you got a plate # we could track him/her until they Darwin...

I've seen people back down the ramps to the Schyukill Expressway when they get to the top and see yet another 5 mile backup, but I've never seen anyone actually going backwards on the highway.

I love driving. Last week I and a friend were driving our cars at about 120 in the highway, while firing thru the window with the 6mm plastic BB air soft guns at each other

People are idiots, plain and simple. And now, California has banned any filming of car chases since there's been OVER 400 DEATHS in like 10-15 years or something like that.

While I doubt you really did that, it does sounds like something fun to do with a couple friends out on one of those desert roads where there's no traffic. Or do it offroading. (I've played paintball on offroad vehicles before.)

Hell, on Wednesday I was driving my mother through downtown Los Angeles, trying to pick up transcripts from two colleges... and while we're on the 101, in the middle of the worst congested period during the day, there are a couple of idiots in rice rockets RACING...

I almost felt like taking our Suburban and forcing them off the road for the good of everyone else.

I wouldn't blame you for running a couple of rice rockets off the road, I rather dislike the things, nothing is more annoying than seeing a rice rocket rider going 60 down the centerline while you're at dead stop in the traffic, though what is worse is seeing a string of about a half dozen of'em do it.

Something that happened January 2002 has that topped for multiple acts of extreme stupidity, on the freeway that goes through my town. The night it all happened there was very heavy fog on the freeway, coming up the mountain (it's coming through a canyon, so it does get foggy a lot in the winter) Anyway, due to the fog some one was of course driving to fast, hitting someone, and other people couldn't see them and hit them too. This is where the extreme stupidity comes in.. and none of this is exaggerated in any way, it was all on the local news (part of it was LIVE on the news). Anyway, the people that had hit each other had blocked both lanes, and the freeway has a 5ft cement median. So of course, people were going to have to wait until some of the wreck was cleared to go any further. (At this point there were only about 4 cars involved) However, someone didn't want to wait. So what'd they do? They turned around and drove backwards down the freeway in heavy fog. Yes, that's right, but that's not the end of it. Several other people saw the first do it and thought it'd be alright, so several other people turned around to drive backwards down the freeway in extremely dense fog. You can imagine what ensued. These fucking idiots all ended up hitting other cars, mostly head on. By the end of thier little fiasco, it had turned from a 4 car pile up, to a fucking 76 car pile-up.

I'd say that takes the cake as being the stupidest example of driving ever. But wait! There's yet another wreck! This is later, once the Highway Patrol, Fire Dept., and news crews are there. (and I saw this on the news as it happened) A firetruck had parked perpendicular across the lanes, and for 1/4 mile out they had set up a bunch of baracades. On LIVE TV some lady decided she wasn't going to be stopped by a little thing like road blocks. LIVE on the news she drove around the road blocks and slammed into the side of the firetruck. I would have like to have seen what her fucking excuse would've been. "Hey, fucking stupid BITCH. You were on fucking live TV when you decided to just drive around the road blocks, and then hit the firetruck"

I was simply amazed at the absolute stupidity of drivers that was going on that night....
