Started snowing last night, and is still going on hard this morning.....
This winter, Washignton, DC has gotten more snow than it has had gotten
for the last six years...
And anyone like my new Avatar?

I think the Avatar comes from just before he started crying, after arranging the "stones into the sign of the cross" in Normandy

I live in St. Louis, and I haven't seen this much snow in one winter since I was a little kid. Tomorrow is the first of March, and we still have about four inches of snow everywhere (with more on the way, I hear
)

I was joking as well, except I forgot to click the emoticon.

You'd have to explain why the glaciers in Glacier Bay, Alaska, are receding after having spent the last 200 years in doing so.
Then there is the rapid Carbon build-up too, in my area it is a damn sight warmer this winter than normal, but not everywhere is affected the same.
The ecosystem is too complex to accurately predict.

You'll have to fogive Shep. He's become a master of the "unrepresentative sample" fallacy, in which he takes occurences in his local area and assumes that they must apply world-wide.

Put a few bullet holes through it and I may take a liking to it. As it is it makes me sick.
As for the weather, it got cold enough for the first time in 5 years to freeze ponds over enough for me to skate on. Snow, well, I haven't seen this much since '98 when we got enough to shut down our subway system. This is the kind of winter I remember when I was a kid, not the crap we've had for the last few years where the snow melts almost as soon as it hits the ground.

Out of all his avatars on this board from random SS icons to Rommel or Nazi weapons, this latest is by far the most evil.

Indeed: there may be arguments whether global warming is primarily caused by human CO2 emissions or something else,
but it does exist.

It costs a shitload to measure that. Just yesterday I was at the field station looking at experiments in solar domes some Ph.D student was doing with plants and CO2, it cost £350,000 just for the CO2 alone. Microsoft pulling out of sponsoring that station didn't help either, it needs to be demolished now for a new one.

Coould the planet be going through one of its naturlly occuring warming up periods??? I mean temops were high in roman times then droped some in the middle ages could this be what is happening?

Possibly, but Carbon levels are growing at extreme rates now. Most would say that humans have little impact on the Earth like say an asteroid or supervolcano would have, but at the moment we are killing off more species and vegetation than at ANY point in history. That has got to have some effect.

My god Shep, is this your 6th thread on the same subject with the same evidence (it's cold and snowing here!)?

By a freak ecological incident, it has been known to be sunny 90% of the time at the Costa del Sol in Spain. Experts believe this strange weather pattern will continue until the world becomes an ice ball or explodes.

Want a genuine by-god example of Global warming in effect?
Kraktoa (Sp)...bigass volcano in the med exploded in the 1880s
and sent so much crap into the air that it effected global climates,
and caused neverending winters in the north east US....
If Global warming is truly manmade, then why did Kyoto fucking EXEMPT
the worlds biggest up and coming polluter from ANY STANDARDS, while
slapping hugeass restrictions onto the US of A?

My favorite thing about enviromental issues is R-12: Freon. All of a sudden,
it became banned and illegal to use in the USA in new applications thru
environmental laws passed....just as the patent on Freon held by DUPONT
was about to expire...coincidence?

Krakatoa threw about five cubic miles of ash and pumice into the stratosphere on August 26-27 1883. The energy release of its main explosion was 15-20 gigatons. For the next three years world climate was several degrees cooler, and the dust and ash where visible in the skies of London England.
Big fucking blast heard over 7% of the earths surface.
