As I've said, I run a porn server, and as a result of this I run across snuff on occassion, much to my disgust.

Anyway, someone uploaded what appears to be a genuine snuff film to my server (I'm not willing to watch it all the way through to check), and I've got the person's _current_ IP address. The file was called "real_snuff.mpg". Needless to say, it is no longer on the server.

Does anyone know who I can contact to report this person, or what I should do about the film?

This is a serious question. I will not post a link to the movie on this board. If someone wishes to determine the realism of the film, contact me and we'll talk.

I'm not sure exactly who to talk to, but you'd probably do best calling number one, your lawyer, and number two, the local police, who could direct you to the proper authorities. More importantly, there'd be a record of you contacting law enforcement about it sooner rather than later. Don't count on your good intentions to cover your ass down the road.

Contact a lawyer, contact the local police and ask for further instructions. If you do that you ought to be safe and the person responsible for it might be caught.

I tend to include movies/images of killings posted in a sexual context, as this movie was.

Necrophilia doesn't need to involve killing someone.

OK, the upload came from Germany/Holland. I'm called the FBI about it, they referred me to www.ifccfbi.gov...

Now to find this guy's location and who his cops are...

Correction: One trace says Holland/Germany, one says San Diego and can't parse farther.

This might not be the right IP, I can't say 100%. 95%, yes.

The IP, as logged, was xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx under the username of "xenophile".

When I ping that IP, I get the URL "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx". When I go to this URL, it gives me an Apache config page. Finding a 404 gives this URL and e-mail: http://XXXXXXX.serveftp.com/xeno/ and XXXX@XXXXXXX.serveftp.com.

Also, I don't see the movie in question in the public files. I do see a bunch of underage p0rn, however...

On second though, I'm not gonna post the info. Please delete the info from your post...

You can also report him to abuse@COX.net (I think), and it looks like he's in the San Diego area by the rDNS adress.
