would thishttp://www.meritline.com/10fasetcar.html and this http://www.meritline.com/ark4por10eth.html be compatible?

I'm trying to get my mom to network our laptop and desktop (the desktop is connected to the internet via cable modem and ethernet card). The laptop is a 1995 ibm thinkpad (either that or 96) and it has a PMCIA port. The desktop is a dell 4300s. Think this 'll work out?

Connecting a laptop to a network hub? I don't see why not.

I dont see any reason why these products will not work together. If you have a cable modem, you should get a router/hub combo.

Okay, presumably your mom's computer has Internet Connection Sharing. That will allow you to share you internet connection.

You will need two network cards in her box, one for the cable line and the other for the network. Since you only have two computers, you won't actually need a hub: a crossover cable will work.

I would not get a no-name PCMCIA network card. 3Com and Intel make some good ones, though they'll cost you more.
