Equally Yoked

Man do I hate that shit!
I was reading through Mike's home page and noticed the comments about being "Equally Yoked". I happen to work nights so when I am off I am up late and there's nothing but crappy infomercials on. Between infomercials there are often advertisements for a dating service called "Equally Yoked". There are seperate commercials for men and women but they usually run back to back. I mainly find it annoying that the tone of the commercials tends to put down those who aren't Christian and moral. You know, those people who go through the "normal" not Christian & moral dating process. I guess going to church and church based activities just doesn't provide enough contact between men & women for them to find someone they'd want to date.

Most people I meet that are married because they have gone to church togather seem to have relationships that last much longer than what is considered common. That is probably because they already have something in common, plus they know that if they separate it would be frowned apon by their Christian families and God.

Anecdotal evidence is less reliable than larger statistical trends. There is no statistical evidence for a difference in divorce rates between Christians and non-Christians, and in fact, fundies have a
higher divorce rate according to the Barna study cited on my Creationism webpages.

I can understand that. My parents have been married for almost 34 years and they went to the same church. Well my mom went and my dad ushered and then skipped out and hung out at the nearby university until he had to be back.
The adds for "Equally Yoked" just get on my nerves. Couldn't these people join any old dating service and then put "Bible Thumper seeks same" in their personal description?
I wonder what the service would say if a very religious person who wasn't Christian wanted to sign up?

Unfortunately we have an awful lot of "Thumpers" here in the U.S. Even worse they have lots of TV shows that waste valuable airspace on Sunday mornings that could be filled with even more football.

Be careful saying that. If Falwell or Robertson ever figured that out, they'd organize a boycott of all Sunday morning games to make way for more fundie propoganda.

Ah man! I wouldn't want that. I'm still hoping that MLB will strike so more
football would find its way on tv. It would be tough since the Diamondbacks are still going well but MLB just pisses me off. College football and to a slightly lesser extent the NFL are much more fun.

I'd put college football over the NFL anyday.

I've never understood the appeal of college football. Maybe it's because I've got no real rooting interest--all the Philadelphia and South Jersey colleges, including my own, have shitty football programs. College basketball, on the other hand...

I can only go by my own experience.

After starting this thread to bitch about the "Equally Yoked" Christian dating service I thought it was funny when I found a link to this site after following a link to skepticsannotatedbible.com.
http://www.secularsingles.com
freeĀ·thinkĀ·er n. One who has rejected authority and dogma, especially in religious thinking, in favor of rational inquiry and skepticism.
?Dictionary.com
Welcome to the Free Thinker's Match Maker, a place where you can post a personal ad to meet other single atheists, agnostics, humanists and other nonreligious people.
That was near the top of the site. I still don't like dating services but I just found this funny after that "Equally Yoked" crap.
