I think after he recovered from the initial shock that no doubt gave him cardiac arrest, he'd begin looking at what he had left in the piggy bank.

If the guy could pay that bill off then maybe next year he can use his heating bill to pay off the US debt.

Yeah.....I'd go nuts if I ever got an electric bill that high.

Dammit, is Britain's GNP even that high?

Dammit, British Gas is hogging the world's money! I always thought it was BT or Micro$oft!

Though in the far future, only Dave Lister and Norweb Energy own the world's money. Lister because the few pence he had in his bank account has become a massive amount over 3 million years of interest and Norweb because Lister left his bathroom light on all that time.

How much is the pound in comparison to the US dollar? The entire US budget is something like 16 trillion dollars.

Don't you wish there was some way to know about these things in advance? It would probably take Fleet several days to notice the aircraft carrier and Ferrari dealership I'd put on my debit card.

MasterCard wouldn't notice too much until I had actually bought the continental United States as a late Xmas prezzie.

That's it? Why not get Canada and Mexico too? You could probably get Mexico for cheap :-)

"Busy, Dave?"
"Well, yeah. I am, actually."
"Oh, then you won't want to know about the two super-light-speed fighters that are tracking us."
"What?!"
"I'll leave you to your bubble blowing, mate."
"No, Hol, come on, come on."
"They're from Earth."
"Three million years away?"
"They're from the NorWEB federation."
"What's that?"
"The North Western Electricity Board. They want you, Dave."
"Me? Why? What for?"
"For your crimes against humanity."
"You what!"
"It seems when you left Earth three million years ago, you left two half-eaten German sausages on a plate in your kitchen."
"Did I?"
"You know what happens to sausages left unattended for three million years?"
"Yeah. They go all mouldy."
"Your sausages, Dave, now cover seven-eighths of the Earth's surface. Also you left seventeen pounds, fifty pence in a bank account. Thanks to compound interest you now own ninety-eight percent of all the world's wealth, but since you've hoarded it for three million years nobody's got any money except for you and NorWEB."
"Why NorWEB? "
"You left a light on in the bathroom. I've got a final demand here for one hundred and eighty billion pounds."
"A hundred and eighty billion pounds! You're kidding!"
"April fool."
"But it's not April."
"Yeah, I know, but I could hardly wait six months with a red-hot jape like that under my belt." "

Are you kidding? I'd have it framed and stick it on a wall in my bathroom or something. That's hilarious! Why toss it?
