And before anyone says M# patches are a virus, this came

They even certified their message virus free. I remember hearing someone say in response to somebody's AVG sig that that's exactly what they'd put on a virus email if they were to write one.

You'd have to be as thick as pig shit to install a "patch" from an email.

Social engineering is a great way to spread virus', especially among the less literate computer users.

Yes, I remember. Our exchange server cut out the executable but fowarded on the body of the message. One of the guys who got it called us to ask if he could get the deleted pictures of Anna. Um...his wife worked in the same company. We didnt tell her, but still, if we wanted to be asses about it we could have.

Hey, your husband is looking at naked women at work! ( for all I know she might not have cared, but you would think it wise not to ask your IT staff to HELP you browse porn at work )

Google runs on a 10,000+ machine Linux cluster. It's not vulnerable to Microsoft-only viruses.

Microsoft <cough> 'solutions' would melt if confronted with Google's traffic load.

<Mac User Gloat>Virus? Wazzat?

Oh, I remember, it's like spyware...one of those "features" of Winblows.

</Mac user goat>

I've seen virii stats on windows up in the 50,000-70,000 range...I need to deal with less than 50. Have a nice day!

shouldn't that be "know how to blame it on the boss"?

Yesterday our monitoring software logged hits to over 200 seperate bestiality and other fetish websites for one student.

The student was being supervised by a "computer expert" tutor who six months ago got an e-mail similar to Ryan's. When it fired off his anti-virus, he decided to forward it to people with instructions on how to disable the antivirus before installing it - after all, if it's certified virus free it must be a false positive. He also sent it to IT support, asking why we hadn't installed the patch on college machines yet.

200 from one person? :shock: Tutor sounds a totaly idiot in all respects, I pity anyone who uses him.

I know they probably won't, but I wish someone would catch the little weasle who posted that virus and do something unpleasant to him.

Maybe the NSA and GCHQ do stuff like that as a hobby.

Stupid or not, I might want to let my mother know about this (my mom knows better then to open crap like that, but I don't fucking want to take any chances if Fate decides to kiss us in the nuts).
