Emperor: Battle for Dune

Anyone played this? It's dirt cheap in the local game shop so I'm curious to see if it's any good.

I haven't tried it. I gave up on the Dune series after Dune 2000 failed to be as entertaining as Dune II.

Dune 2000 was just a cheap cash in. They took Dune, fucked up the units and put it in isometric. Yay!

Yeah, Dune 2000 just seemed overly tweaked. The movie portions were nice but they started craming the game with a lot of details that made the game more difficult and less fun.

I've played it.
A great game and far superior to Dune 2000.
If you're a Dune fan, you'll love it.

A damn good game, I must say ! And it came cheap ? Bargain !
Emperor :Battle for Dune is a revisit to the very franchise that made Westwood so big, aside from from C & C !
Never mind that it doesn't follow the book plot: i preferred the game to the book, at least until the near ending, which was slightly b-grade (emepror worm ? humanity enslaved ? yeesh !)
Aside from that, it was damn cool, and I suggest you get it. It should suffice until Warcrfaft 3 goes on bargain

Emperor was set before the first Dune book, just to clarify.
