Is this generation hornier than our's??

I saw a show this weekend called something like "Junior High Confessions" and it essentially was a documentary where the crew interviewed and followed around a group of Junior High students to show adults the kind of issues that the kids today face.

I have a very high tolerance for shock value but I saw 12 and 13 year old girls casually talking about giving their boyfriends blow jobs and some were even already sleeping with multiple partners??

Now at first I was horrified, because they looked so damned young and innocent while one girl is talking about the pro and cons of SWALLOWING. It got me thinking, these kids are out of control, this new generation are horny little bastards with no care for consequences and THEN I suddenly realized that I lost my virginty at 13 and my girlfriend was 13 at the time and some of the things we did at that age were worthy of porn videos.

So it spurred a thought in my mind: Are we of the older generation white washing our childhood and teens so that when the new generation comes along, like our parents before us we can lament the state of today's youth??? Were we just as depraved and sex crazed as the youth of now??

I think the willingness to experiment increases with each generation - you set up boundries, and your kids go past them - and set those as their boundaries for their kdis.

I'd say our generation(and our thinking) isn't as much whitewashing as to exposure ratio.

Look at how much literal exposure to these things kids these days have. I mean mainstream media literally appeals to sex for everything from baby food to cars but to a degree that our generation wasn't exposed to, as well as ours suffered somewhat an unusual respect in terms that the seventies had a more proclivity and then with eighties and odd mix of morality and sexuality, with the ninties having an exploration of sex in the mainstream(which was always there...but in essence morE subdued)

So this generation is a product more of the media exposure(along with many other factors) of sexual feeling then ours was.

And no I don't believe we are whitewashing because we(as teenagers) were horny, but usually at 12-13 I never thought about sex....and not blowjobs.

I think we're no hornier than any generation. It's just our generation hasn't had the stigma attached to sex that previous generations has. As yourself said, you were having sex at thirteen.

I think however that in any age, that's too young. That's still a damn kid, as in immature and the consequences could be pretty serious. I do think more kids are sexually active, hell I know it and that's a problem. Our generation is reckless and that shows in the rate of teenage STDs and pregnancies.

12 and 13 year olds? WTF?

Heck, when I was 12, sex was still the mysterious taboo that everyone wondered about but was too afraid to ask.

Now they are discussing the pros and cons of BJs? All I know is that if I EVER found my 13 year old daughter talking about that, she wouldn't leave the house till she was 21...

12 year old BJs....ew.

I agree with Ghost Rider that the sexuality of today's youth is probably a result of its larege amount of exposure to sex.

TWELVE and THIRTEEN year olds...shit on ice.

I saw a bit once where a boy that old was telling the camera that he didn't like to use a condom, because it ruined the sensation. And I'm thinking, You bastard, because when I was thirteen, sex with a condom was just that, sex WITH a condom, no other people present.

That acknowledgement to the power of the male hormones made, I think these kids are all fucked up. Forget military school, the government needs to make it mandatory for kids with less than a B average to work a minimum of three years at McDonalds or something, just to deaden their will to do anything.

Sex at 13 years old might not become that strange in the future. Kids are achieving puberty at earlier ages. Small kids with adult hormones.

This could get pretty nasty, depending on how you view it.

I don't think they have a greater drive or need for sex. They're just more overt about their wants in that area. A child often will say exactly what is on his mind. As a baby, humans scream and cry at even the slightest discomfort. Over time, they grow into children, who while not screaming and moaning at every mild discomfort, continue to voice completely unfiltered thoughts and make their feelings readily known, whether others care to hear them or not, and wheter or not the situation warrants it. The parent or parents teach the child, over time, to moderate what he or she says. Because of that moderation, the child grows into a responsible adult. Today's youth show less control over their mouths and emotions. I think it is because parents are far more permissive than they once were, and I think we are seeing detrimental effects in modern society. It would be as if we did not scold a puppy for messing on the floor but instead said, "Now hear, hear. If you don't stop messing the floor, I'll be cross with you." The puppy obivously cannot comprehend that what it's done is not permissible. But then when that puppy reaches that magical age of being a grown dog and messes the floor, we pull out a gun and blow it away. We treat our children the same way, exercising little in the way of effective punishment for their misdeeds, but then subjecting them to a harsh and unforgiving justice system when they reach adulthood.

Yeah, that's not an exception, it's rather the rule today.

Jeez. Honestly though it isn't that suprising. If you look at the statistics on drinking and drug use. It is rather high in the lower grades. Depressing.

I wonder when sex ed classes start. Junior high? Or maybe they should start lower.

12.. 13 year olds having sex?? Can they do that? Jeez, that's like 6th or 7th grade? I was still playing with my legos back then, and the most sex ever came up was the occasional playboy some kid managed to nab.. back when Pamela Anderson was still somewhat decent lookin'.

Prepare to be sickened and appalled.

One of my teacher-friends works at an elementary school where two kids were walked in on, in the school bathroom: a fourth-grade boy (9 years old) with a second-grade girl (7 years old), completely naked on the floor, having sex with one another. Obviously, neither had reached puberty yet, so the act itself did nothing, but it makes you wonder where those kids picked up on enough, err, information to do a convincing performance.

Students don't receive 'the difference of the sexes' lecture until they reach 5th grade, and then don't get sex ed until 7th.

I'll second that. The current trends on dwindling ages for sexual activity are disturbing, and Zaia's post places the exclaimation point on it.

WHAT THE FUCK?!? That is just...WRONG. I'm glad my sister isn't like that (I hope...)

You know why kids are like that? Parents don't instill morals in their kids anymore. And why do they not instill morals? Because they're afraid of their kids. There are too many idiots out there who will cry abuse to a parent who even thinks about raising a hand to their child. *sigh* The world is going to hell in a handbasket.

It comes down to this: parents need to stop letting things like television and stereos raise their children and they need to actually do their fucking job. How else could a fucking SEVEN YEAR OLD know so much about sex? Seven years old! You know, I don't have kids, and I'm sure it's a pain in the ass to be on your kids all the goddamn time to make sure you know where they are, what they're doing and who they're with, but you know what? You're a parent. That's your fucking job. Suck it up and deal.

All I know is that If I had heard that about my sister at that age, I would have beat the living sh*t out of the kid that had done it, and then locked her in her room...

I agree that it's the parents' God damn fault when their fucking kids do shit like that.

Fuck, this kind of shit pisses me off and grosses me out beyond rational thought...

EXACTLY

Parent's need to take control of their children and stop letting their kids run them. I have seen too many cases of kids being spoiled rotten.

I also fully agree with the old saying "Spare the rod, spoil the child." Some children simply don't understand the meaning of right and wrong when told, and corporal punishment, within reasonable bounds, of course, is necessary.

You awful, horrible CHILD BEATER! Just kidding, but I'm waiting to see that charge for real from someone else...
