Temp Job Jitters
I got a temp job today, I start tomorrow. It is in a call center (which Ive never done ) for a product Ive never used. But they liked me in the interview and are giving me a chance. Its only for 4-6 weeks at $22/hour, but it will really help with the bills.
When I got home a friend called me to help him remodel his rental properties for cash. Hehe, Im a day laborer now. But Ive got this gig going, hopefully when its over I can help with with the remodels. Id like to learn more house fix it stuff.
So anyway, Im nervous and fretting like I usually do when presented with new situations, so I just need to vent a bit to the board. Im really happy (honestly) for all you that have good jobs right now, live with parents, etc. I would not wish this on anyone, well maybe a few, but nobody here.

Goodluck! Wow, $22 and hour! Sheesh, as a student they know they can work me long hours of beer and sushi and minimum wage, lol.TrailerParkJawa wrote:I got a temp job today, I start tomorrow. You'll pick up on it after your first day, guaranteed. Then you'll just run through it like a machine.TrailerParkJawa wrote:I got a temp job today, I start tomorrow. I was a manager in a call center for a paramedical company. PM me if you want advice or venting, etc.
We dealt with problems that occured while collecting blood and urine from people for life insurance policies. I had to field some weird calls, and usually people were quite pissed (no pun) by the time the call was transferred to me.
Edit: I was also a carpenter for three years and beside trim work and framing, I did a fair amount of remodeling.
Best advice: wear steel toe boots. (and there's no such thing as knot-boxes or throck-mockles, nor do saws need reciprocating fluid)
Best joke: I've cut this board three times, and it's still too short.

It'll be easy Jawa. My last job before the one i had was in a call centre for the Inland revenue. If it's any thing like the one i worked in the computer does all the work. You'll get the pop-ups on your screen telling you exactly what to say. Fill in the information as requested and bobs your mothers brother job done.

Well, first day is over and Im relieved. Im underqualified for the job, but they dont seem to mind. Its is Level one support, basic stuff, but the basic stuff for this product still involves a great deal. Sometimes you have to prove there network is the problem and not the product. There is a lot to learn but at least I get to sit next to one of my bosses so help is just a few feet away.

Just do your best and they might even consider hiring you as a regular employee. That's what happened to me
