Ive never been big on ranting about gas, its cheap and I have have a Honda. But today I paid $2.14/gallon. WTF? I dont believe Ive ever paid that much for gas. And that was for plain old 87 at a self service station. The prices are even higher in San Francisco where space is at a premium and its hard to truck the stuff in.
We are totally getting screwed in this state because of ridiculus regulatory requirements for additives in the gas none of the other states have. So we cant buy suprlus from NV for example.
And we have refineries right here! A bunch of them in Benicia!
[/rant] I feel better now.

Getting pretty high in NY too. Guess the gas stations found a steel-plated excuse to price-gouge.

Let's see, gas costs around €1.20 per liter here, which would make it around €4.96 or €5.00 per gallon or somewhere in that neighborhood. You really have it bad, don't you? $2.14 per gallon is dirt cheap.

Local news tonight had a guy from England saying how much he loved the $2.00 a gallon gas in Phoenix.

It's 4,42€ a gallon in Finland(or rather my area of finland, thats 1.17€ a liter).
~1.1$ = 1€

It's 1.10$/liter here in Hungary...
I usually buy the Power Racing gasoline from Shell (it's octane 99) and it costs 1.35$/liter...

Here we pay about 4,60$ per gallon, so I'd say every single driver in Germany would give his right arm for such cheap gasoline...

I'm within biking distance to work. I'll be parking the car most of the week just as soon as this darn snow melts.

That was 500 posts

I'd like to thank my parents, DW for the forum, and especially God, whose non-existence inspired many of my posts.

It's $1.92 a gallon here in Oregon for regular. That's pretty high when compared to a few weeks ago, when the cost was hovering around $1.45 (which comes out to about a 30% increase). On the other hand, the stupid laws here ban self-service, so the stations have to pay for extra attendants to watch the pumps and prices are higher than practically anywhere else in the country barring California. Prices are still better than over in Europe, I suppose.

Gas here in the US is cheaper than bottled water, even in it's current inflated state. i filled up on saturday and paid $1.77 a gallon. Hell, the only places in the world where it is cheaper are a few gulf states where they damn near give it away. Sorry Jawa, but even if it goes up to three bucks a gallon, it would still be chaper than the overwhelming majority of countries in good times.

Two days ago in Montreal a gas station tried to boost the price by $.10 a liter expecting others to do the same, but he went back to the regular price

Ok, here's my message to US americans:
STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR DIRT-CHEAP GASOLINE PRICES!
Your government pays a large percentage of the gas you buy, and you get it like 1/2 of the cost of my country where it's at least $3 a gallon. And we don't make nearly one quarter as much as you do in salaries! So STFU!
What's next? "Boo-hoo, my cable connection only allows me to download 500 kilobytes per second!"

Yes, the gas is cheaper in Amierca than is is in Europe (Fundies everywhere is only a small price to pay for such cheap gas, but it's high for America. People in Ameirca aren't used to paying the prices you're seeing now, and considering how some people practically have a fetish for SUVs, it gets to be a big hit on some people's walltets.

And this is why for most reason I'm glad I walk everywhere.
Sucks for most of my friends though.

Its not so much the price but how much it went up. It is blatent price gouging and profiteering. If Bush is a 'moral' as he likes to say he is (let alone ASScroft) he should go after these assholes with a vengence. However, just this once, I believe that, like some others have constantly accused, Bush's affiliation with certain oil companies will serve to protect the oil companies from prosecution of profiteering.

Why would he object about high price the more money he makes the happier he is.

Get rid of the 4x4s that the "soccer moms" use and you may just have lower prices again.
I, personally, dislike people who have to have a large Land Rover or Mitsubishi or Merc SUV just to go to town.

The good thing is, perhaps now the car companies are going to start seriously considering promoting more fuel efficent cars (read:When I get out of college, mabye the price will be low enough so I can buy one.)
